It’s not as much on the paddock as it is in the reserves. Having access to such a large catchment area gives them plenty of local talent to look at and identify as potential future stars. The corporate support gives them the financial advantage to sign these kids up before any other clubs can get to them, thus giving them a better advantage to identify the best of the best and let the rest go.
Remember, the salary cap only covers the top 30 players. All players under this, those paid under the minimum $70,000 p/a are reserve players. They can have as many as they like, and if they have the funds, they can sign them up before a lot of the poorer clubs can.

The 2019 Brisbane Broncos are struggling and it won't get any better

Drop Boyd, move Milford to FB, Nikorima to 5/8 and bring in O’Sullivan.
Make McCullough the Captain and bring Fensom onto the bench to help shore up the defense.

Will that fix all their problems? Probably not, but it will address the fact their captain seems to be offering no effort in defense (which has to mentally affect the playing group), and is lacking speed in attack.
The spine shuffle would help spark their attack by re-introducing speed and unpredictability into fullback and some ball playing into their 7.

All of which are outplaying their QLD counterparts. Have a look at the team makeupo and the players that aren’t performing and then re-assess your statement.

Hell no!

When does Nathan Brown’s future get questioned?

You’re right Max, Dean Pay probably did know.

Musical chairs will cost the Dragons a finals spot

The main argument I have heard against expansion is we don’t have the talent to go around.
The problem I have with that argument is it doesn’t actually address why we (supposedly) don’t have the talent.
If we were to move into Perth, for example, wouldn’t an established NRL team encourage and engage with the local competition, and therefor, help create more talent? Wouldn’t a second Brisbane team give more pathways to local talent to push for a spot in the NRL instead of either trying to get into a limited amount of spots with the Broncos, and the other few feeder clubs?

Also, if talent was so sparse, why is it that every year that we lose a fantastic player, another one just seems to pop up out of nowhere?

We have the talent, we just don’t have the pathways to bring them all through and give them a look at the big time. If the NRL invests in the game, props up a couple of new teams (like they did with Melbourne at the start), then isn’t that helping to not only consolidate strong League areas such as Brisbane, but also create new ones and therefor, creating more quality players?

The NRL needs promotion and relegation

You are right. Brisbane doesn’t need, nor do they want a second team.
The NRL, however, do need a second Brisbane team.
In the end, shouldn’t we do what’s best for the NRL rather than what’s best for a single team?

One round gone and the 2019 premiers and wooden spooners are clear

“He then left the storm when they started to recede a bit”
I don’t understand this line. He left them after they won a GF and the next year they made a GF. Not much of a recession.
Yes, they may have lost, but they more than likely would have won if the had Cronk in the team.

The Roar's top 50 NRL players: 10-1

Just wanted to point 1 thing out, you claim that Hasler has contributed to a “significant increase in membership”, yet the Sea Eagles only have 9,800 members to date, well behind this time last year, 10,526.
Not taking away from any of your other points, but stating something like this when the evidence points clearly to the contrary can make your argument seem weaker.

NRL 2019 season preview: Manly Sea Eagles

2005 was, and still is, the best averaging year for crowds at 16,468 per game.

2005: A brief look back at one of rugby league's greatest seasons

While I won’t argue against the Storm’s previous salary caps deceptions, I would argue that Bellamy has built his reputation as a great coach more so on the way he can turn a nobody at one club into a great clubman at the Storm. He has done so with many players, and not many that leave their system continue in the same fine vein of form that they produced down in Melbourne.

Third Party Agreements: Should they be limited or scrapped altogether?

His contract stated that he needed to give 12 months notice. If Manly went against that, they would be up for litigation for breach of contract unless they pay him out the 12 months of pay owed.

Baz, it's time to leave Manly – and no, you don't deserve a cent

Name 1 “high ranking company employee” that has walked away after not performing without getting a payout.

Baz, it's time to leave Manly – and no, you don't deserve a cent

Then pay him out.

Baz, it's time to leave Manly – and no, you don't deserve a cent

I think he was talking about getting a payout because Manly don’t want him around, and if they want him gone, they need to pay him out as per his contract.

Baz, it's time to leave Manly – and no, you don't deserve a cent

And he gave his 12 months notice as stipulated in the signed contract between Barrett and Manly.

Baz, it's time to leave Manly – and no, you don't deserve a cent

Both parties (Barrett and Manly) signed a contract that stated he needed to give 12 months notice before he could leave. It did not state that it had to be at the end or beginning of a year.
He has done everything that his contract has stated, and Manly are in their right to want him to see out his notice.
It’s not Trent’s decision if he leaves early or not, but he is entitled to the entirety of his notice period pay, if Manly choose to release him early.

That is what a contract is for. They both signed the T’s & C’s, now they must abide by them. Simple.

Baz, it's time to leave Manly – and no, you don't deserve a cent

In regards to your last line, I believe that’s the way it was supposed to be but just take a look at the whole Peachey situation.
He signs, then wants to backflip, then it’s a media beatup, then his partner is controlling him because other Titans’ players’ partners say it’s too hard, hen he is building a house so it would be too hard to leave and finally he was never going to backflip in the first place.
The media will grab onto, and run with a story regardless of the facts or anything previously reported.
It’s becoming a sick joke.

My 2019 NRL wishlist

I currently get free tickets to my home games by paying for a ticketed membership. If we go your way, I pay for a ticketed membership and get free tickets to home games taken to a different stadium that is further away from my own and becomes inconvenient.
You are giving no incentive to moving the games. Members already get to go to their home games for free as they have paid for the membership.

You would need clubs to reduce their membership prices to take this loss of home games into account which means less money for clubs from memberships which would translate to them making that money up elsewhere. Namely ticket prices and/or food & drink prices would be targeted, making the game day experience even more expensive.

I think, as far as many of the Footy Show viewers were concerned, the footy show died last year when Fatty was given the axe (or knife in the back as it was).

Presenting the 2018 Crises awards

“but are only human like the rest of us”.
Firstly, the rest of us would be charged for drink driving and, depending on your profession, could lose you job. Not just your title as manager or team leader, your job.
Secondly, trying to play this incident off as some sort of “guilt by association” or saying that it isn’t a “hanging offence” is trying to diminish the severity of the situation.

He was speeding whilst over the B.A.C limit.
People die doing this.
People kill innocent people doing this.

That is not overreacting to a situation, it is a fact. Stop trying to treat this as if he was caught doing a burnout in an empty car park or something stupid like that.

Does the 'no dickhead' policy only apply to players?

We’ve all seen what “old footy heads” can do when put in charge of a club, and you want one in charge of the game itself?
Why not just put up the white flag now and declare the NRL dead and buried. That’s where it will end up if an “old footy head” is put in charge.
I can just see the financial planning for the future now…

“Broadcasting money? Who needs it! Let’s just run a sausage sizzle and a chook raffle to raise the funds. It worked back in my day and it will work now. Trust me, I know footy!”

2019 NRL draw: How it should be scheduled

But you have taken those home games away from them in the first place so instead of having 12 each year, they now only get 8 and they have to travel to some other ground for the other 4.
How would this attract more members?

2019 NRL draw: How it should be scheduled

Don’t do drugs kids.

The salary cap is socialist garbage and should be binned

Bennett is the reason Brennan went down to Penrith as he didn’t want him when he was at Newcastle so I don’t think he would keep him on if he did join the Titans.

Wayne Bennett should cap off his legacy by rebuilding the Titans
