In the micro level of SR its true, but RA and NZR are doing it on the macro level. That is the bigger concern because if the ruins hit trouble then SRP spending money for all teams could drop drastically which ironically would make teams like the Rebels/Force more viable as spending would be cut massively.

He also glossed over the massive debt posted by the Tahs this year that was nearly on a Rebels scale.

So Oz have 3 of the top 6 teams but they don’t have the strenght. Force are bringing players back to Oz to strengthen their team. You go to three and good luck with having young players cine through. Would Tim Ryan be in a match day 23 if there was only 3 teams and how many of the young 10s would have got their chance. Instead Tim Ryan would be over in Connacht Mack Hansen looking for game time.

It’s not the backs which is the problem with the tahs. 7s is all about backs play, it’s defending as a team and working on setpiece that Tahs need help in. If Kiss has been a success then Friend has done more than Kiss did at getting teams playing like the Reds are now.

With Connacht Friend had a small pack but were built on speed of the pack rather than brute force. They didnt have to blow players out of the ruck but were technically good.

It’s why Friend needs to be given a contract to replace a SR coach, probably Coleman. Would rate Friend better than Kiss. We are seeing with Cotter and the Blues if you get a bit more organisation in the forwards the team looks much better.

First year coach is a stretch. He has been part of test management and coached teams like Ulster and Irish. Having a coach that can give his team a plan A and B has helped.

It will be a push to make the top 4, but not sure any of the Top 4 will want to play them. Who would have thought 10 rounds in and Oz has half the teams in the top half of the table. He might be a flash in the pan but sign him up on a long term deal while he’s currently inexpensive.

SRP salary cap isn’t real. Tahs can’t spend over $5m but RA can top up as much as they want in addition
Waratahs set to lose two up-and-comers ahead of Suaalii's arrival as NSW Rugby announce $4.8m loss
Its like its 2017 again, two teams with massive financial issues need help. RA pick their winner so the decision is easy as one already has a deal with the people calling the shots.

Past experience can be good and bad. I think its good to have experience to different leagues and approaches and maybe that is where he went wrong. Coaching in MLR is similar style to SR. Saying that you could be a Rennie or Penny and play in a different league but make your team play like they are in SR and learn nothing. Overall I think coaches should be looking to get time in Europe even if in ProD2 or Championship to see how others approach it. Coach like Friend is better for his travels and if Tahs get him they will do alot better.

Shareholders v participating teams. We don’t know what % of this joint venture goes to SANZAAR and what goes to 6Ns is it 60:40 as 6 members v 4 members. Was it agreed that the final round would be played in the 6Ns to get them to sign on. Would the competition cover the costs of flying all the teams out there and all the European teams back and all the accommodation and other costs or would each team need to do it themselves or is that all built into the value they are offering.

Is it an official approach or just rumour. Will be interesting to see how much goes to the 6Ns, how much to SANZAAR and how much to the teams in it. I would expect fans to be tiny and do we want to see a big showpiece on TV looking like SR crowds as that is good for noone.
Waratahs set to lose two up-and-comers ahead of Suaalii's arrival as NSW Rugby announce $4.8m loss
When your playing life is so short as a professional it is hard to spend a few years getting very little game time. At Edinburgh and Dragons there are about 8 more games to be played meaning at least 5 more games than they would get at the Tahs. Like most professionals they will back themselves to shine once given the chance. So Tahs make a massive loss but lucky for them isn’t it all RA now. If Tahs are running up that big a loss any income from the Lions and WC will be quickly eaten by the SRP sides and may be why RA don’t want to have to carry the Tahs and Rebels losses.

No WB makes the top 10 club earns in Union and may even be closer to 20th than 10th.
Wallabies' young gun mulling NRL switch as Rebels' future continues to cloud picture
That does seem to be the way but agents also have to earn their money. In Europe it is play X has had an offer from a French club. I think at one stage Clermont were rumoured to be signing 6 top wingers to replace Peneaud.

So the Top 15 League players earn 1m. And only three are able earn more than a WB that’s fairly sad. Courtney Laws is being offered nearly $700k by a French second division side. The bigger question is what is the total earnings from League for their top player v the top RA earner when test money etc are added on.

Not really. If Oz had kept all their 10s and 15s at home how many of the exciting young 10s would even be starting. What player is going to hang around until he is nearly 25 before he is getting enough games, they will just go to NRL, go OS or worse stop playing. If RA could get more players in they get more out.

In France it’s the 9. I don’t see others really taking the tee to kick sticks except those who played 10.

BB was great until games became tighter and then his kicking became an issue. Look at Halfpenny or Pollard, being able to knock over anything in the oppositions half means they just need to play in the right areas.

It surprises me how many conversions are missed in SR. They are points lost and if one team has a good kicker 3 tries converted is more than 4 not.

And how many other players in the team kick sticks. I’m not seeing any forward today and very few backs kicking sticks.

Is Noah Lolesio not currently the best. i know its a matter of opinion but if you can’t kick goals you cant be the starting 10 unless you can score tries by yourself every game.

Or he could go to France earn even more playing a game he already likes and knows how to play. And if he stays in Union atleast RA can still pick them if the choose to.

Having a league where 66% of the teams make the playoffs doesn’t help for sure. Would be better to play each team once then split into a top 6 and bottom 6 and play the playoffs (make them minie leagues or something). For a league struggling for games cutting a team seems shortsighted.
