Agree that the Americans have a rosy future ahead, but disagree about their WC group. You must have misread my comment AussieFK, never did I say the group wasn’t strong, just not as tough as it promised to be, for many reasons. In fact the group was a little disappointing for mine. And even though the USMNT put up a good showing, I personally think the Costa Ricans out performed them thoroughly. Mexico possibly did as well. I’m talking only about World Cup results here. Concacaf doesn’t count at this tournament to be honest, other than for WC qualification.

Belgium into WC last eight after 2-1 win

You gotta feel for the Americans. They put in a valiant effort, but were quite literally cut to ribbons by the Belgians. Only a man of the match performance from Howard, pulling off a spectacular save on average every 3 minutes in the second half, kept them in it. Expectations were probably inflated prematurely after the USofA got out of their group.
At the start of the tournament, it looked like group G would be 1 of the toughest groups, but it didn’t turn out as such. They benefitted from a) an unsettled, unpaid and disgruntled Ghana, who ended up boycotting training etc.
b) an inept Portugal who never recovered from their first up shellacking, led by an increasingly frustrated Ronaldo who missed half a dozen solid chances in each group game.
And c) a German side who rarely were required to get out of 2nd gear.
It was still a fine effort from Klinsmanns men. The worry for them would be the fact they were arguably outperformed by Mexico this World Cup, and most definitely outperformed by the Costa Ricans. But the game is making some progress across the pond.

As for the Belgians, if they can just be a little more clinical in front of goal, they’ll give Argentina a proper fright, because Howard won’t be there to save their skins!

You already did tell us Mitch!

State of Arrogance behind NSW's Blues

True that. But carry on. A+ for entertainment.

State of Arrogance behind NSW's Blues

‘close to parody’
i doubt that was intentional, more a freudian slip.. but its bloody hilarious seeing folk put their foot in it.

State of Arrogance behind NSW's Blues

Don’t tell ChrisTy or Richieboy that, it will boggle their minds and they’ll again be questioning their popularity in the rugby world and the village from which they were spawned… Eventually deflecting the dislike as best they can.
Looks like a spectacular weekend of 6N ahead, regardless. Good luck to all.

Six Nations finale: Ireland's to lose

Christy.. it’s apparent that you are far too close to the competition that you’re stumbling over the competition itself, on the whole. Grind no axes boy. Good on you for calling your colours. But dont question others colours in the process… ‘Easily the most passionate and intriguing rugby competition outside of RWC’….. is purely, quite an insane and speculative statement.
Bless.

Six Nations finale: Ireland's to lose

While you speak the truth Jak… ol’ blighty doesn’t recognise this.. and you can’t blame Christy or Richieboy for their misconception. Don’t expect any reply, the pommie lads despise being challenged with the truth. It goes entirely against their nature.

Can Wales challenge England?

Richieboy.. What’s even more ironic is that I’m not even an Aussie. Wherever on earth you got that idea from is beyond even the pale of an Englishman.
That aside, having lived in both countries, I can honestly say I like the Aussie way, it’s people and nature considerably more than that of England.
That’s not meant to cast aspersions on your village or dress sense, just an opinion based on my personal experience.
Tally-ho.

Can Wales challenge England?

Richieboy.. You must be from the same village as old mate christy. I bet you even went to the same school. Bless.

The rose sniffers did play well, I concur. Makes for a spectacular final weekend. If the weathers fine and the sky doesn’t look like falling on your head, get out of the bungalow, head down the village pub and enjoy the games. Live a little.
Hearty chuckles.

Can Wales challenge England?

Is that snow I hear you asking… No. It’s just the sound of chips flying over your head.
Look out for the gulls!!

Can Wales challenge England?

Christy.. Apparently your village was named Insecure. And it doesn’t appear you ever left it.
Fear not though… Chuckles still luvs’ya.
Good luck to you kid.

Can Wales challenge England?

^ I think you should go easy on yourself kid.
This is an opinion based website. No one is going to jump down your throat because you’re being vocal. That’s purely the realm of the insecure.
In life, sometimes you just have to accept that not everyone is going to like you.

On a more positive note, it sounds like you really needed to escape that village. Well done you.

Can Wales challenge England?

^ Have to chuckle.
Who knows where you get your minorities from ChrissieT, but I’m betting that outside of England more folks will be willing Wales to win than you care to imagine. And not just because they dislike the pommies. You certainly wouldn’t find many Scots, Irish or Frenchmen cheering the rose clad boys in white. If you think otherwise, you’d do well to abide by those imposed drinking restrictions kid.
Blurry vision.

Can Wales challenge England?

Most people do.. do they not?

Can Wales challenge England?

Indeed. Freedom of choice is wonderful thing. But why ruin a healthy rivalry.

One can live their entire life in nsw and still harbour hatred for the pompous blue boys.

Boof has reinstated the mongrel in the Baggy Green that was whipped out of them by the bleeding hearts in the media during the end of Punters reign. The welcome days of smash or get smashed are back. And I suspect the days of winning more regularly will follow closely.
England however, should by no means be written off or underestimated. The remainder of this series will be the true test of their character, individually and as a team.
Personally I hope they fall flat on their faces. 3 in a row is enough of a taste of success for them.

Is England gone?

It’s Gatland who has actually sounded the more jittery this week in his press conferences. Regardless of how Links season will be perceived by those who merely sit in the stands and throw in their 2 cents worth.. the fact of the matter is Wales haven’t beaten Australia for 8 games. The last Lions test will count for nought if Gatland cant get this gold clad monkey off his back tonight. And he knows it.
It promises to be a belter of a test. There will most probably be very little in it again.
Having watched several games at Millenium.. the atmosphere is never hostile. The crowd there appreciate good hard rugby. They love to watch their team win, but enjoy the banter with opposition fans and a beer afterward almost as much.

Don't go silly now, McKenzie warns Welsh

I’ll be there.. about to skyhook into Madchester for the game. 70000 Kiwi supporters to maybe 5000 Aussies makes for a tasty battle indeed. It’ll be like sneaking into enemy territory for a smash and grab. We’re not leaving without the tin cup.
And when the dust settles, heres hoping the kiwis and pommies are left scratching their heads saying… which way did it go?
Carn the Roos!!.

Kiwis can claim slice of RLWC history

There’s some fine talent that saw the light there Tane and came to greener pastures to make something of themselves, (as a good number of your populace amongst many others do)…. but for Dave Dobbyns sake fella.. Dragon and Keith Urban… hahahaha.. thats got me in stiches. Their all yours buddy.

Ain't no friendly, Wales warn Wallabies

on stress leave perhaps?.. or possibly a self imposed media ban??

It's far too early for Australian Ashes arrogance

Considering I reside in the UK and have done for the past 9 years, thats a very dangerous presumption Bigjohn. I work almost entirely with Brits and Irish. I thoroughly enjoy most sport, have traveled widely to watch it, and dont mind the banter that goes along with it. Could the difference in your experience possibly be that you had children in your presence? I never said the English weren’t generally well behaved.. But lets face it.. a fella with kids isn’t going to be laid into are they!
That said, the notion that the English public en masse show goodwill toward Australian sporting teams is pure fabrication and a cop out statement.

The return of the 'Ugly Aussies'? Utter rubbish

And you keep buying into it RP… Classic.

Well done Blacks. A fine effort indeed.

Looking back on the All Blacks' undefeated 2013 season

I think you are giving the Kiwis a little too much credit there Ritchie. The coffee machine isn’t that simple to operate and requires several steps.

Australia's Plan B: Ban all Kiwis!
