Isaac Heeney has been a revelation so far this season and is one of the favourites for the Brownlow Medal. The Sydney utility is averaging the most score involvements per game of any player in the competition
Andrew Brayshaw hasn’t reached the heights that he did when selected in the AFL All-Australian team in 2022, but has still been a solid contributor.
Charlie Cameron should take plenty away from kicking five goals in an obliteration of Richmond against the Hawks.
Bayley Fritsch should become an even more important player from a structural perspective, given key forward Jacob van Rooyen will be unavailable due to concussion.
Jeremy Finlayson should be a welcome addition to the Port Adelaide forward line after kicking four goals in the SANFL last week.
There’s no disputing that Cam Guthrie will be important against Melbourne, given Patrick Dangerfield is set to miss due to injury.
Joe Lolley was outstanding for the Sky Blues, scoring a brace as Sydney FC equaled their biggest ever victory.
We’re taking a look at one player from each team that needs to make a difference this week, starting with the ANZAC Day games.

Mathew Leckie played a pivotal part in Melbourne City claiming an 8-nil win; playing a role in several of his team's goals.
Brisbane co-captain Lachie Neale will be looking to lead his team to a victory against Melbourne in what will be his 250th AFL game.
What a great round of football; Round 23 delivered in spades. There were 25 goals in six matches, no draws and none of the…
It’s high stakes with five teams having lost their first three games of season 2024, and in desperate need of a win.
Anthony Caceres is a player with immense talent and has a fantastic work rate, broke the deadlock against the Mariners in the 74th minute.
It's Round 3 and the reigning grand finalists clash to start things off, with both still winless. Gold Coast and GWS have the bye…
Round 2 and the reigning grand finalists have both lost their first two games, so the pressure is on. Brisbane and Carlton have a…
Round 21 was an entertaining one, which started with a four-goal thriller, coached by former Socceroos John Aloisi and Tony Popovic, between Western United…
It’s going to be the first time in the history of the AFL when ten teams haven’t played prior to round 1; only eight…
Sorry I left out the word (‘nearly’) “lost a game.” I wasn’t negative at all. I praised Larkey, Zurhaar and Tarrant. There’s some slight improvement and as stated “light at the end of the tunnel.”
Each AFL team's burning question after Round 15
You hit the nail on the head; I wanted to include Liberatore and Macrae, but it was difficult to pick three players from St Kilda that I thought warranted a spot in the combined team.

I thought the same when he was at the Sydney Swans, but I think he has improved tremendously at Port Adelaide.
AFL combined team (Part 3)
They have had seven players on the bench including the goalkeeper. I know that you are only allowed five subs, but it gives you options.
Hopefully, Wenzel-Halls can improve as he is playing at Western United for the next three seasons; https://www.a-league.com.au/news/striker-dylan-wenzel-halls-joins-western-united
Who are the Socceroos' best of the rest?
That’s a very good idea, to have Australia Over 23’s vs Australia Under 23’s.

It was difficult to leave Laird out of the team, but I had to pick Darcy Parish.

That’s a good idea. An added bonus is that Membrey is a good leader.
The AFL all-MVP starting 18
Thanks for your input. Who would you have had in your team in the positions that you mentioned?

Thanks for that Dingo. Took a lot of effort; if you change one player then it impacts the entire team structure!

The Bulldogs still need to bolster their defence.
The one player each AFL club should poach after Round 11
As a Collingwood supporter, I wouldn’t mind trading Braden Sier for Zach Merrett, what do you think of that trade?

Of course I rate Isaac Heeney highly, but I was just concerned due to him playing just six games in season 2020. The following substantiates that I rate him highly: https://www.theroar.com.au/2020/11/29/the-five-players-your-team-cant-afford-to-lose-sydney-west-coast-and-western-bulldogs/
The order of merit: Sydney Swans 2021 season
Nathan Broad is a player that was strongly considered. Your opinion is valid.
Who would you take out of the Tigers order of merit in order to include Broad?
The order of merit: Richmond Tigers 2021 season
He finished 9th in the best and fairest in season 2020.
The order of merit: Carlton Blues 2021 season
Nathan Broad was a player that was considered, however he only played 16 out of 21 games in season 2020 and just scrapes into the Tigers best 22 in season 2021.

Do you think the Kangaroos will get the wooden spoon in season 2021?
The order of merit: North Melbourne Kangaroos 2021 season
That’s an informative opinion. A player that certainly came under consideration to be a part of the 11 players chosen, was Nathan Broad.
Given that Broad only played 16 of 21 games in season 2020.
He was a player that I’m surprised doesn’t get talked about more, but he just scrapes into the Tigers best 22 in season 2021.

Jack was named in the forward pocket as I use that as a guide.
I strongly considered picking Papley in the forward pocket and not picking Frankin; it was an extremely tough decision, but in the end went with Buddy.
