I write words on the internet, I study at RMIT and I follow Melbourne FC. Once had a dream I missed a matchwinner in an AFL Grand Final....twice. I sometimes tweet tweets @dylcarmody77, so give me a follow and enjoy!

De Goey goes deep, and Grundy nearly roves and kicks the goal, but is tackled across the line, and it is another point.

BEHIND GEELONG

Murdoch takes a strong mark 55 out, and it seems as though he taking the set shot.

It’ll have to a massive kick, and it isn’t enough as he doesn’t make the distance, but the Cats can rove, snap and…miss. Hits the post.

Both sides have had their chances, but both are making bad turnovers, silly unforced errors.

The Pies move it well, and manage to find Ben Crocker on the boundary. Tough angle, only 20 out. Goes the banana, but can’t convert, can’t even score as it is out on the full.

Parsons drops a sitter, and while it comes back in, Ratugolea marks it, but the umpires say that he juggled it over, “two grabs”, they say, and it is thrown in.

END OF THE FIRST QUARTER
Collingwood 1.3 (9) trail Geelong 2.4 (16) by 7 points

Scrappy quarter with Geelong having a majority of the ascendcy before Collingwood came hard late. Both sides are working hard, but they aren’t getting rewards.

Jack Crisp has 12 touches, while Gary Ablett has been welcomed back with 10 himself

GOAL COLLINGWOOD

Strong mark on the boundary in the 50 by Phillips, and Bews makes it a certainty by giving away 50. Soft or not, you decide, but the decision has been paid and Phillips kicks an easy goal to give Collingwood their first.

Geelong are out from the Pies’ 50, and they find space and move it well.

Duncan on the wing, goes to Ratugolea who can’t mark, but wins the free as Cox bumps his opponent in the back.

Ratuoglea from 40 out, tough angle, again cannot bring it back, a behind for the Cats.

Holding the ball against Tim Kelly, and the Pies slowly move it through their defensive 50 before going up the middle, but the Cats force the turnover.

Bit of chaos in the middle, another turnover sees Ablett mark on the 50, and the Little Master is picture perfect with his kick, hitting up Harry Taylor 30 odd out, slight angle.

He is out to the left with his shot though.

Captain Sidebottom today, and the Pies win the toss, and will kick to the city end.

Massive game today for both clubs, with the top eight so tightly contested, a win here can help both clubs bury their way further into the eight.

Match Report:

Collingwood have cemented themselves as a force to be reckoned with after thumping Essendon by 49 points to win the 24th annual Anzac Day clash at the MCG on Wednesday afternoon.

After a spine-tingling minute of silence amongst 90 000 people at the MCG, it was a hard-fought first term, with both sides trading goals and swapping the lead, the Pies going into the first term break with a 7 point lead.

It was the second term where the Pies broke the game open, who managed to find space and time along the wings, while Essendon struggled to find targets inside their 50, skill errors costing them dearly as they only kicked one goal for the quarter, Collingwood going into the break with a 17 point advantage.

The third quarter was not much better, with Collingwood holding the Dons defensively, whilst finding space amongst the tiring Bombers, as men inside their 50 became open. Essendon could not manage to kick a goal, and faced a monumental challenge in the last quarter, trailing by 30 points.

A 50-meter penalty early in the fourth quarter saw Adam Treloar kick an easy goal, and put the game to bed, as Essendon were only able to kick three more goals for the game, the Pies running out 49 point victors.

Adam Treloar had an outstanding game, with 34 disposals and two goals, whilst Steele Sidebottom again had a fantastic game, with 25 touches and three goals to his name.

Essendon were led by David Zaharakis with 34 disposals himself, with Brendan Goddard and Zach Merrett earning 33 disposals themselves.

It was a bitterly disappointing result for the Bombers, whose struggles entering inside 50 and basic skill errors saw them struggle to put together any solid bits of play.

They travel back to Etihad Stadium next Sunday, where they face a hugely important clash against Melbourne, who were equally as disappointing last night against Richmond. Whoever loses that will face falling away out of touch from the top eight.

Collingwood, meanwhile, will take on Richmond in what is shaping up to be a massive clash, with a huge crowd expected. It will be a big chance for Collingwood to defeat both grand finalists inside three weeks.

Josh Green and Josh Begley were amongst the injuries, with a hamstring and leg injury to be looked at throughout the week.
