I’ve got to congratulate you on your Rugby League knowledge, I wouldn’t have a clue who has won the best player in the A League over the last 10 years…
There is currently an EPL player under investigation for rape actually, unfortunately it happens in all sports.
Why did you bring up Pearce and Monaghan? Neither of them have been to jail…

What a dive: why this league fan just cannot commit full-time to soccer

I think you’ll find the author is referring the rugby league when she made that comment, but anyway…
“Multiple players awarded the top gong and sent to jail within the decade”. Care to mention who these “multiple players” are? I guess you are referencing Hayne, but even he had his conviction overturned. Who are the others?
In terms of soccer, we’ll look at the EPL instead of the A league, considering the EPL is probably the league that compares most with the NRL…
Mason Greenwood, Dennis Wise, Adrian Mutu, Nicolas Anelka just to name a few.
You are going to get bad eggs in any sport…

What a dive: why this league fan just cannot commit full-time to soccer

You could easily make a list of soccer players that have had indiscretions as well, but that’s not what the article is about.
I don’t understand why you are getting so triggered about an article that actually expresses that they are enjoying the World Cup, but can’t get past the diving, which is a sentiment that a lot of casual soccer fans have. She’s obviously not trolling because she has mentioned that it has started to creep into rugby league and that it’s becoming her pet hate there as well…

Unfortunately even the Socceroos are diving more and more now. I thought Mitch Duke was never going to walk again after being touched in a tackle against Tunisia, he was laying on the ground in absolute agony, that was until a Tunisian player threw the ball at him.
I’ve never seen a more miraculous recovery from a potential career threatening injury on all my life, the way he was able to bounce straight to his feet and charge at the bloke was incredible!

Good comeback, but lets not get too excited, it was against a team that only last week got beat by Georgia…

I wouldn’t want to open the floodgates and let anyone play Origin, but am happy with the current rules.
In saying that, if you want to stop people chopping and changing of teams, stop the NRL for a month and have an International window.
In that time you play your 3 Origin matches (still on the Wednesday night), you have a tournament involving NZ, Samoa and Tonga, and then another separate tournament involving Fiji, PNG and Cook Islands, with a straight final for both tournaments at the end (those matches are played on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday).
That way the players don’t feel like they are missing out on playing on the big stage, and get to represent the country or state they feel most aligned to.

Dual in the crown: Why Origin players should also be able to represent Kiwis and England

Those 2 that competed in the Olympics, did they previously make an Olympic team when they were a male?
If the answer is no, then they have gained an advantage by competing as a female.
If they are ranked 500th in the world as a male, then transition and are suddenly ranked 10th as a female, they may not win a medal, but is it fair to all the other females that they are forced to compete against someone who isn’t actually a female? The answer is no.

'They've actually got it wrong': Thorpe weighs in on FINA's ruling of transgender athletes

There’s a reason why you only hear of transitioned males competing in women events and not the other way around, it’s because they have a massive advantage of going through puberty as a male…
I’m sure if you had a transgender Olympics, all the womens records would be quicker, higher, further and stronger than all the male records…

Absolutely…

RIP, one-dayers: Time has come for T20 to wipe 50-over games from international calendar

I’ve always thought the ICC should treat T20’s like how rugby treats 7’s.
You have completely different skill sets to play the 2 different versions.
They should have specialist T20 players who play carnival style tournaments around the world every few weeks. Then the actual cricketers can play the Test matches…

I don’t know if I can agree with you there Sheek.
A classic example is both Luai and To’o, both born and raised in Mt Druitt, and judging by previous interviews etc are very proud of the fact that they are from that area, and as a result, are very keen to represent NSW.
But at the same time they are Samoan, Samoan’s born and living in Australia yes, but still Samoan, and seem to want to represent their heritage at a World Cup.
Why should that desire to represent the country that all their family are from (and that they culturally identify with) stop them playing for the State that they actually originate from in a State of Origin series?
The NRL still has measures in place to stop the SOO becoming a glorified all-stars match, we saw that a few years ago when Australia picked Semi Radradra due to residency, but he wasn’t allowed to play for NSW. If they can have rules in place to make that happen, surely there’s no problem when it goes the other way…

MICHAEL HAGAN: Why players will ultimately pick the Kangaroos’ first-choice team at World Cup

Sorry, but Munster is already locked in for the number 7 jersey…

RLWC News: DCE to get first crack at 7 jumper, England hit with concussion lawsuit, Samoa enjoy Doncaster's delights

At the risk of sounding like a “everyone gets a medal” comment, they should have 2 medals, a game day premiership medal for the 22 and a squad member premiership medal for the rest.
That way the actual premiership medal keeps its prestige and significance but everyone else’s contribution to the flag is also noted.

COMMENT: Awarding premiership medals to the entire winning list would ruin them for everyone

You mean like the NFL where there are no concussions because they wear helmets?
Like the NFL, a helmet would give the player a sense of invincibility, which in turn leads to more concussions. Not to mention the extra padding everyone would need to protect themselves from getting hit by a helmet…
Helmets are definitely not the answer…

REACTION: 'Craziest game', 'Absolute chaos', 'brutal' - all the fall-out from Rabbitohs' epic win over Roosters

Irrelevant how so?
Has any of the 7 stated that they aren’t playing because of gay people specifically? Or is that just assumed?

Hasler's hair-raising humility saves Sea Eagles by tiptoeing through cultural war minefield

Are we sure that it’s a homophobic move from these players?
The LGBQT+ community is so much more than just “gays” these days.
Personally I support the gay and lesbian community, voted yes on gay marriage, and I’d happily wear the jerseys to support the inclusivity of these people in general society.
Where the whole situation becomes blurred is that it is also promoting the ideologies of the trans community, and their hostile attacks on anyone that doesn’t support their beliefs on gender and pronouns. Anyone who pushes back against these beliefs is automatically labelled a “transphobe” or “bigot”.
It would be very difficult for me to wear a jersey promoting that type of hostility.

If Manly happen to beat the Roosters this week, I’ll put it down to them showing ‘pride’ in the jersey…

MICHAEL HAGAN: Hasler faces monumental task to stop jersey fiasco derailing Manly's season

Parra’s team is fairly strong, especially considering there is no room for someone like Jason Taylor.

Which team wins a Parra vs Manly coach fantasy shootout?

It was actually the Queenslanders that were saying Origin was dead after that 3 peat.
When NSW lost 8 on the trot, Origin was more alive than ever. If the shoe was on the other foot then Origin would’ve been close to it’s death…
Let’s hope Origin never does die though, because that last night was close to the greatest game I’ve witnessed…

That’s really interesting to know actually, I’ve never heard that before…

Would the Dragons be travelling better without Zac Lomax?

Born in Temora, but family’s farm was in between Temora and Young. Played all his footy in Young before going to boarding school. He’s definitely a Young boy.
Temora are still a great breeding ground though. Ryan Hinchcliffe and Josh McCrone should be on your list…

Would the Dragons be travelling better without Zac Lomax?

Hey Stuart,
Just for future reference, Angus Crichton is from Young. Played his junior Rugby with the Yabbies and League with the Cherrypickers.

Would the Dragons be travelling better without Zac Lomax?

There’s a very simple way to fix this, when the ref signals 6 to go, the captain can quickly yell out (or have some signal) that they want a penalty instead.

I have to agree with once upon a time. Langer can’t be considered as good as Taylor because Taylor has a higher score thanks to his amazing 334*
