Yes, to say I was surprised when I read that is a major understatement.

Perth Glory and Bruno Fornaroli are back, but Melbourne Victory are goooooone

This 100%.

I was surprised when they signed Rojas while so clearly needing a quality 10. I assume that this was going to be Kruse’s role, but sadly Robbie is so often injured that surely any coach knows that his presence can’t be relied upon.

Kruse reminds me of Kewell in his mid to late 20s, a racehorse of a player who could barely get onto the park. I thought from the outset that he was a dubious signing for this reason.

Great idea!

Where to next for football in Australia?

Thing is, Nick, it isn’t working now.

I think an Auckland team is an excellent idea, and I would love to see teams from SE Asia. Latter won’t happen though, because they don’t need us.

What I don’t understand is why, given their success now, Perth still can’t match their NSL crowds.

Is there anyone out there who can have a go at explaining why this is the case?

Where to next for football in Australia?

I kept on hoping you would start to make sense, Johan, but sadly no.

Your first sentence completely misrepresents in a very Trumpian way what was written.

Weren’t you going on A League strike?

We were all hopeful that you would spare us your personality disorder for a while.

Victory have been very poor indeed. On another thread, one poster drew attention to the effect that these very poor Victory and Wanderers teams were having on the League as a whole, and I agree that they have been a significant factor.

City, however, are a problem all on their own. How many years has it now? And still virtually zero connection with any kind of sustainable fan base. Why they appointed Joyce will always be a mystery to me.

But that is exactly the point Beach is making, RB. Looking at the figures in isolation is exactly what we can’t afford to do.

16k for a Melbourne derby is HALF the attendance at the corresponding fixture last year. That is cause for real concern. Why did half those people choose not to go to this game? We need to answer that question if we are to arrest what is now a precipitous decline.

Why are you so unnecessarily and gratuitously offensive? I am confident that you don’t behave like this in your day to day dealings with people. You remind me of one of those males who suddenly develops imaginary muscles and attitude to match in the safety of their utes or SUVs.

You aren’t impressing anyone.

Peril mixed with excitement, what's next for the Melbourne Victory?

The only consistent thing about MC is their capacity to disappoint.

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Round 17

Like your work, Shabab. Keep it up.

Wellington Phoenix are best placed to challenge Sydney FC's crown

They’re a work in the progress, but at their best the Nix are the most engaging team in the League to watch right now. Speedy ball movement, vertical passes, and Davila and Caccace, who I wish was an Aussie not a Kiwi. Great stuff!

Pick up your game, son.

Is Marco Rojas the man to turn Melbourne Victory's season around?

It is an extremely astute piece of analysis, however.

Even worse is what happened so often against Perth – high crosses lumped in when McC was surrounded by 3 much taller cbs. Ridiculous.

The Olyroos qualifying for Tokyo 2020 is worth celebrating

What worries me, RB, is that the “bottoming out” season is sliding forwards in time like an ice hockey puck with no real suggestion that it is ready to stop.

The Wanderers need a reset - and so does the rest of the A-League

Chris, this unnecessarily aggressive and defensive response suggests that I am close to a nerve.

You are making something out of my views that simply isn’t there.

The Wanderers need a reset - and so does the rest of the A-League

Have to say that I think a properly set up Gold Coast team is a really good option

The Wanderers need a reset - and so does the rest of the A-League

Well said.

Agree. From the segments I saw (managed 3/4 of this one) it was the most entertaining by some distance. But only a partially informed view!

You know absolutely nothing about me, and your assumptions – as assumptions based on ignorance always are – are completely wrong.
I’m a regular game day attendee and have had Fox for the A League from season 1. The only reason I couldn’t watch more this weekend was because I was working right through. I don’t watch – at all – any of the other sports you mention.
So how about holding fire with the insults next time.
I’ve seen you in action on these forums before, and I don’t understand why your default position is to be so objectionable when at other times you are a lucid and informed commentator.

The Wanderers need a reset - and so does the rest of the A-League

Disagree. Very strongly. The season started well but recent rounds have served up grass fed mogadon.

Duke’s only asset is his attitude. Technically he is awful.
