Michael Hooper to take six-month sabbatical to Japanese rugby in 2021
Great read. Didn’t catch the game, although, saw the send-off on the news. 110% agree, let the players play! Nothing worse than when a referee’s interpretation-based call decides a game.
Netball: Keep calm and carry on
Cheers for the insight Thomas. I’m keen to see the Giannis and Middleton duo. They seem to have a tremendously high level of chemistry on and off the court.
Eastern Conference Round 1 predictions
Matt, Rennie opting to select on form means that no spot is guaranteed. The same is for Hooper, although his recent performance and huge amount of experience at the international level against the best teams in the world means that (at this stage) he would be my pick.
Michael Hooper shines in sky blue slaughter at the SCG
As a fan that has explored the Hooper alternatives, I am very happy for Hooper to have cemented himself at Wallabies number 7.
Michael Hooper shines in sky blue slaughter at the SCG
Exactly. While the Force will always be the underdog for the rest of the Super Rugby AU rounds, their winless record doesn’t tell their full story.
Perfect timing: The round that has Super Rugby AU at sixes and sevens
Looking forward to the Force v Tahs game. If I hadn’t watched the Tah’s stellar performance against the Reds, I would imagine the Force are in with a chance. However, the beauty of last week’s results is that, in the Super Rugby AU competition, no team’s win can be guaranteed.
Perfect timing: The round that has Super Rugby AU at sixes and sevens
Very interesting article Brett.
I wanted to add, seeing as RA has opted down this path, they shouldn’t waste the talent they have already found in some of the young players by instead fielding the more experienced players. Perhaps there are some exceptions to the rule.
Jordan Petaia comes to mind. His first game back was inspiring! Although maybe I’m doing exactly what you are saying not too… Nevertheless, great read.
Dear Australian rugby: Cool your jets. Love, Australian rugby
jc, with the plethora of great ideas on the Roar, I don’t doubt that Rennie trawls through it every now and then 😂
Joe Powell's career-defining decision
Hey Ferret. In my opinion, White would start, although that may come from my bias towards his style of rugby. To be honest, if Rennie believes Powell to be the better choice, go for it. I just hope they are both offered opportunities to prove themselves, which seems more and more likely in the Rennie-led-Wallabies. Also, it’s nice to see competition around the scrum-half position (not such a bad problem for Rennie to have!).
Cheers for your input!
Joe Powell's career-defining decision
I just caught the tail end of the Mavs vs Rockets game. Absolute score fest and went right down to the wire! Great game if anyone is looking to get a replay up. For that reason, I won’t divulge any spoilers.
Storylines to watch for during the NBA’s return
I’d have to disagree jc. IMO White’s experience positions him as the best choice. I’m thinking he will be in the starting line-up. Although, in the Rennie era especially, it would come down to performance. There is nothing wrong with healthy competition.
Joe Powell's career-defining decision
Cheers Tooly. Will be interesting to see how Rennie may influence Powell’s decision.
Joe Powell's career-defining decision
Unfortunately, I think you are right Pete. Although, if I was to highlight some positives. I love how Gardner explains himself and his calls. His chat with both teams is second to none.
Rebels see off Force in super time
There is a lot of optimism in the Rennie-led-era. Hopefully we can steer away from player mismanagement.
Joe Powell's career-defining decision
I like your idea of using Powell as an alternative to White’s running/sniping style, but as you said, very little game time off the bench as a half.
Joe Powell's career-defining decision
Yeah Pete. Very true. Do you think Powell is holding out to hear from Rennie before confirming his future plans?
Joe Powell's career-defining decision
Thanks Bobby. Love how you put it. Absolutely one of Australia’s nice guys and deserves more recognition
Joe Powell's career-defining decision
Hey Mark. May have been the case. Although, there was a rugby.com.au podcast recently where he discusses the move to Montpellier and then Exeter. According to that, freedom to play his own game was a huge factor in his decision.
Joe Powell's career-defining decision
Good read Max. I’m looking forward to it kicking off again!
Storylines to watch for during the NBA’s return
Jez, 100% agree with Hunt helping Harrison be more aggressive in attack. I’ll be watching for a big game from both tonight!
Short season means the stakes are already high for the Rebels
Loved the article Tipsy. I saw Jez refer to this in his comment, however, I will also say that Karmichael Hunt seems to have a tremendous influence on the Waratahs attack as a whole. Although, maybe I’m biased because I love his style of play. Hopefully he stays fit and healthy!
Give Rob Penney time
I will be tipping with my heart this week. Go the Force!!
