My Uncle Thomas was as big a league fan as I and we watched a lot of footy together. But there was one key difference – he didn’t have a team that he supported.

It feels weird that we’ve more recently won a Test series in India than we have in England.
Australia's touring team analysed – and why the selectors have missed a trick
and I liked Head before it was cool.
{snigger}
Agree on Kuhnemann – he would have been my second spinner picked.
Also agree that it was pointless to take Morris. He’d be better back here playing Sheffield Shield.

And also a Teams Wearing a Red V Must Win Round.
But that is absolutely it after that.
If you celebrate everything, you're celebrating nothing: NRL must show us respect and shut up about Respect Round
8.3% ? Isn’t that a ringing endorsement to keep it?
'Dog s--t' rule NRL coaches want boned, surprising Nicho Hynes snub and their verdict on golden point, refs
My first thought was that you were railing against a straw man. But then I searched out what PVL actually said and, FMD, you are right to call him out:
“We were always going to look at a Respect Round,” V’landys said.
“What a Respect Round is, is that it respects everyone’s views. We might not agree with them, but we respect them.
“So if we were going to do anything we were going to do a Respect Round. It wasn’t going to be a Pride Round because then you alienate other people.
“We pride ourselves on being an inclusive game. To be an inclusive game you have to respect everyone’s view.”
They really are the words of a person who has always gotten his own way and has no idea what it even means to respect other views.
If you celebrate everything, you're celebrating nothing: NRL must show us respect and shut up about Respect Round
It’s not like those other 4 played on bad teams.
And I still go back to that 2014 Origin when the greatest team of all time couldn’t cover for the loss of Cronk, even when he was replaced with someone as good as DCE.
25 in 25: Best player of NRL era - Smith, Lockyer, Johns, Thurston, Slater, Inglis, Tallis, Fittler?
Tallis, Tallis, WTF is Tallis also played for the Dragonsof course but not in the NRL era.
Like Benji, he’s WAY too high on this list.
25 in 25: Best player of NRL era - Smith, Lockyer, Johns, Thurston, Slater, Inglis, Tallis, Fittler?
Frankly, most forwards come into this category. The top 10 should really only include elite spine players because they add the list value and are harder to find.
25 in 25: Best player of NRL era - Smith, Lockyer, Johns, Thurston, Slater, Inglis, Tallis, Fittler?
Not a single Dragons player (and yes I know Benji played a couple of seasons for us).
BMoz, at least, would be one of the first players chosen in an All Time NRL team.
But the scandal here is Cronk at 12 when he really should be about 6.

Ennis a bit higher I reckon.
Best hooker of NRL era - Smith the king but tough to separate Buderus, Luke, Cook, Farah, Koroisau, Hodgson
He got a quite a few first downs today. You don’t need a 60 yard TD run to have a good game.
Is Christian McCaffrey the greatest attacking weapon in football?
Been watching him since College and his Heismann runner up year.
If he ca stay healthy for a season an MVP isn’t out of the question for him.

She says she loves playing cricket (plus that’s her job) so that’s her default position. But she can also express a view that she’d prefer not to play.
It’s a nuanced position that I think she’s played very well.
'Beginning of genocide, massacres and dispossession': Indigenous star slams Australia Day women's fixture
Gardner is taking a very mature position for a 25 year old. It’s going to one interesting to see what she turns her hand to post her cricket career.

She is playing on Australia Day. She just doesn’t like it that she has to .

Stoopid founding fathers – they really didn’t think that though.

She’s not refusing to play.

My first and probably only BBL of the season.
Well worth it.
Smudge supreme! Smith whacks another ton, outscores everyone else COMBINED as Sixers massacre Thunder
But hey, in this day and age, everyone gets a medal.
That’s a weird comment.
25 in 25: Best Origin player of NRL era - Joey, Thurston, Lockyer, Slater, Smith, Tallis, Gallen?
I have all the respect in the world for Buderus but I don’t think even his mum would have put him ahead of Slater, Cronk and Inglis.
And I can’t help but think Matt Scott and Luke Lewis should be on here somewhere.

The Law change/clarification is interesting . Clearly the MCC finally worked out that their interpretation didn’t match the Laws as written.
The new Laws mean that the Mankad is now very difficult for fast bowlers other than in quite egregious cases. But it does mean that runners can get a bit more of a head start against the quicks.
It also means that the women’s T20 case late last year was probably not out.
Man o' Mankad: Put respect back on name by recognising his cleverness in outsmarting unsporting Aussie legend
I’m sure they when I played a bit of indoor cricket in the 90s and 00s, “Mankad” was actually listed as a form of dismissal.

Winning the toss might be Patty’s biggest contribution to the series.
