Managed to watch every ball of 2005 Ashes due to a fortuitously timed back operation, made up for a lot of hurt.

Howler – which is precisely what DRS was brought in for, not for speculative Hail Mary’s.

Stokes revives Ashes with extraordinary match-winning ton

Sure why not…oh damn I think I burned my last review though. 😂

Badoomtish.

Of all the places in SA. 😉

Australia's new 'Big Three' demolish England

Well tbf they were BUT there wasn’t a WC slap bang in the middle of that Summer.

Australia's new 'Big Three' demolish England

Methinks you doth protest too much. 😉
Whereabouts on SA?

No mate, that’s you that is!

Australia's new 'Big Three' demolish England

Pitches wise, I think they are what they are really, they’ve not been green tops. Overhead conditions have played a part as they always do in England and the ball has barely moved at all up until this test.
I picked Australia to win the series beforehand precisely because of their bowling attack and Smith. I didn’t factor in that most of England’s batsmen would be horribly out of form and in ODI mode. The England hierarchy prioritised the WC above everything else including the Ashes (which is criminal in my mind) and as the saying goes, you reap what you sow.
I can only imagine what this Australian bowling attack will be like when Richardson is fit again, I think he’ll be the best of the bunch. Scary really.

Congratulations Australia.
Gee this England team make it hard to be an Englishman living in Australia. Thanks Root and Co…for nothing. 😡

Australia's new 'Big Three' demolish England

He’s half English as is KP, the fact that they were born and brought up elsewhere doesn’t change that fact, regardless of how much you want it to.

Warner's ugly but crucial Ashes innings

Speaking about xenophobia and Brexit like you have the first idea about it is pretty pathetic, especially if your an Australian.

Warner's ugly but crucial Ashes innings

Archer chose to come to the UK after talking to Chris Jordan. Archer was severely disaffected with his treatment by the cricketing authorities in the West Indies who dropped him like a stone after he got injured, he barely received any rehab let alone any financial assistance. There was also no pathways available to get back into the Barbados first team, no academy or 2nd XI cricket. He was offered all of those things by Sussex (Chris Jordan’s club). England had absolutely nothing to do with poaching him. His dad also happens to be English so frankly I have no issue whatsoever with him playing for England, I’m surprised anybody can frankly. Is it sad for the West Indies, sure, but the likelihood of him developing into an international cricketer would have been fairly slim had he not chosen to do what he did, he very well may have been lost to the game all together.

Warner's ugly but crucial Ashes innings

Stokes never played U19s for NZ. FFS.

Warner's ugly but crucial Ashes innings

Opening the batting in England is tough. Fair play to Warner, no one can begrudge him having a bit of luck in those conditions, but he toughed it out and found a bit of form and spark.
Australia have found one In Labuschagne, he looks to the manor born, there’s definitely just something about him.
I have a feeling that it’s going to be very tough for England in this innings, there was some extravagant movement during the Aussie innings, particularly early on, probably too much in fact. If Australia bowl in the right areas they’ll likely get their rewards. Don’t much fancy Roy’s chances of getting a score, huge innings for Root too.

Warner's ugly but crucial Ashes innings

Didn’t Hussey have great 1st class figures before he got his chance though? Labuschagne looks like a player to me, he seems like quite a spikey and confident fella.

Those obvious LBWs you refer to Paul, would they be the ones that almost universally were dismissed at the time to be sliding down by the umpires, players, commentators and posters to the live thread? Would it be those obvious ones?

England gathering steam, and not just via Archer

Paul, why do you get so precious? David didn’t insult you at all. You are very firm in your statements of ‘fact’ and are happy to shout other posters down but don’t like it when others mildly disagree with you. Seems like your happy to dish it out but don’t like it coming back.
Btw, speaking of facts, England have outscored Australia in three of the four innings in this series.
The loss of Smith simply can’t be overstated seeing that he has scored 37% of Australia’s runs in the series.

Australia should not fight Jofra Archer with fire

I made an assumption that you were Australian, am I wrong?
If you are, what’s the problem?
MOST!!!

England's captain is the Root of their problems

It might be time to give Broad a Test by that point.

Australia should not fight Jofra Archer with fire

Tremlett and Finn, sadly due to injury and criminal mismanagement two huge talents that never fulfilled their potential although they did have a moment in the sun.

Australia should not fight Jofra Archer with fire

Haha very true, although Wood might get fit at some point, just like Cummins and Pattinson managed. We thought that you’d made them up for years. 😛

Larwood, Tyson, Willis, Malcolm, Harmison.
