Thanks so much for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed the article. I agree with Collingwood, Geelong (even though you have discounted them hehe) and GWS are the standouts for me at this point. Every team is going to have a blunder here and there (as GWS, for example, displayed on the weekend) but they have been the most consistent performers. West Coast, too is flying under the radar. They are 5-3 without really playing their best, strongest football. They played 5 and a half good quarters our of eight in the last fortnight and neither St Kilda or Gold Coast looked a chance. You don’t want to peak too early; keep your eyes on them post bye.

The attitude problem AFL clubs need to shake

I really like what Carlton is building and what they’ve shown so far this year but I think they’re getting slightly ahead of themselves. They’ve put in 7/8 very good, solid performances but all for one win. Rewarding ‘almost victories’ allowed them to get ahead of themselves against North and it totally backfired. The wins will come if the effort is consistent but the inner sanctum must do a better job and managing expectations

He is a very good coach. You don’t accidentally make three (4) grand finals – you are slightly out coached and overall unlucky to lose them. Whether he is a great coach, and will ever win one, I’m not so sure. But I will enjoy his dry humour at press conferences as long as he is in the game.

The Freo trio flying under the radar

He is going to be star. I’m scared for Ben Brown’s future encounters w Freo yet cannot wait at the same time

The Freo trio flying under the radar

I’m chuffed, thank you very much. I spend a lot of time in the West so attempt to bring it back to Melbourne and bring it up where I can.

After watching Liam Jones before he went off in unfortunate circumstances yesterday, I don’t see how he can be ahead of Pearce in 2019. He’s the one that has been touted as a replacement for Rance in the AA side. Still 2/3 of the season to go but for a guy (Pearce) that is only playing game 50 this weekend, he has to be on a lot of radars now and in seasons to come.

The Freo trio flying under the radar

Not hard to get excited about the three mentioned above, though.
As for yesterday, it was a slog in the midfield and not pretty but it doesn’t take away from what those three men have done all season.

The Freo trio flying under the radar

I hope it wasn’t a one off.

It's time to make a call on Good Friday Football

They have been a liability for my entire life, AD. Hope next season’s membership comes with health insurance

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 5

Thanks! Had it fixed 🙂

A rule change was never the answer to AFL's goal-kicking woes

Agree re: WCE however take a look at their game against Essendon. Tightened up completely and it was such an impressive performance because it wasn’t a one off. The tackling and pressure acts stood out to me and they’ve been able to capture that in the opening three rounds.

Why were we so desperate to write off the Cats?

I had an uncharastically good week tipping wise, but this one got me good

Why were we so desperate to write off the Cats?

If there’s one thing we’ve learnt about the Hawks, it’s that they’re never out of the top eight unless they’re sitting in the bottom 10 at the end of the home and away season

Why were we so desperate to write off the Cats?

My issue with the term is that supporters often take it under their wing as a win when putting in an outstanding performance doesn’t get you the four points. I think “pride” is more appropriate; be proud of the performance but still analyse how the game was lost if that makes sense.

Will be a cracking game, would back my girls in but both teams deserve to play finals. Shame the conference system will rob one of the of the opportunity. Best of luck!

It’s time to let go of the 'honourable loss'

Hi James,
The membership numbers came from the last official release by the AFL – which has been stated in the article. My apologies for not using the stats you have provided and I appreciate that. The supporters are praised in the article for their loyalty – it is fantastic to see so many re-signing.

The issue St Kilda cannot keep sweeping under the carpet

Agree. Admitting it is the first step though and I think it’s bold by Bassat to own up to the debt straight away – in his first interview as president – even though he wasn’t involved.

The issue St Kilda cannot keep sweeping under the carpet

As a North supporter, when Boomer & co were pushed out at the end of 2016 it was heartbreaking but made sense. There were leaders such as Higgins and Ziebell who were more than ready to step up in their places and have done so successfully. You won’t be able to replace the talent overnight but the leadership was there from the start and 100% supported by Brad Scott. Unfortunately it hasn’t been the same for St Kilda and there’s obviously been mounting pressure on Jack Steven who has now bravely put his hand up and says he needs to step away from the light to deal with it. Hannerbery seems keep to lead the club and I think he can do a good job but think he needs the coach’s support and unsure he’ll get it.

The issue St Kilda cannot keep sweeping under the carpet

Thanks for reading! I feel for Saints supporters, I really do. I hope things turn around but until Richardson is out the door I cannot see that happening.

The issue St Kilda cannot keep sweeping under the carpet

I appreciate the attempt nonetheless ????
