more spots available for players, means its easier to get a start for youngsters and older guys who may be a bit past it but still good enough for professional rugby league.
and the toyota cup has helped make it a better option for kids straight out of school, they can play in a nationwide professional competition rather than colts/grade footy in the city suburbs
Rugby League should fight Union, not AFL
interestingly in brisbane this weekend there was an old boys gps/private school tournament where they played league instead of ru!!
Rugby League should fight Union, not AFL
agreed, although i think channel nine had a lot to do with it as well
Rugby League should fight Union, not AFL
thanks mate, glad there are some league fans on here haha
Rugby League should fight Union, not AFL
exactly. league should be pushing into the private school sector, hopefully signing a few wallabies would help convince the kids that league is a pretty good sport
Rugby League should fight Union, not AFL
i think those guys definitely capable of playing in the nrl, professional athletes should be able to, even if those players wouldn’t be superstars.
karmichael and israel certainly boosted afl, so i imagine the like of JOC and beale would make a pretty big impact
Rugby League should fight Union, not AFL
toowoomba boy? so am i. and add robbie odavis and the walker brothers to that list too
IMO the tongan/samoan/fijian demographic is who RL should be after, as others have started RU is almost a religion but league is becoming a much better option
Rugby League should fight Union, not AFL
hence the quotation marks, was trying to make it seem sarcastic
Rugby League should fight Union, not AFL
even more unfortunate for the like of provan and big mal is that locky has to be a dead-set certainty to be the next immortal when he becomes eligible in a few years.
but they picked wally lewis before they picked artie beetson so its not like they cant go back and induct older players
What does the Immortals title really mean?
they still have some of the best in the game choosing the next immortal, the likes of bennett, ray warren and phil rothfield all know their footy, whether u like them or not.
but the arlc should try to make the hall of fame more important than being an immortal
What does the Immortals title really mean?
unfortunately channel 9 and the arlc have decided there will be no expansion for the next few years. a team in wa and another qld team would be great for the game, as would another nz team. i dont think the game can survive with so many sydney teams
Grand final TV: AFL beats out the NRL
couldnt agree more, i dont think trial matches should count towards suspensions
Ear bite? Billy Slater accuses James Graham of NRL Grand Final chomp [IMAGES, VIDEO]
id like that too, although the last player found guilty of biting only got 8 weeks
Ear bite? Billy Slater accuses James Graham of NRL Grand Final chomp [IMAGES, VIDEO]
10+ weeks hopefully. although how a bloke isnt sent off for intentionally biting is beyond me. was worse than what mini and travis burns did through the season and they both got sent

brad morrin (another bulldog) was the last player suspended for biting and he got 8 weeks. hope they throw the book at graham, otherwise he will only miss internationals and trials
NRL Grand Final 2012 - Full-time result: Melbourne 14-4 Bulldogs
worried about the bulldogs playmakers, not much experience apart from ennis, and one mistake could cost the game
WIZ: Storm to win it comfortably through the rucks
might also just be the evolution of football in general. nowadays we want versatility, in a few years maybe they will want specialist position players…
Lack of utility hurts players and their team
haha im a liverpool fan but even i enjoyed the ‘typo’
hoping a london team wins it this year, those mancs are getting too cocky
English Premier League: Contenders and pretenders
im a strong believer in total football – cruyff may not have won a world cup but ajax and barca dominated in the 1970s. i think what we are seeing from barca nowadays (tikka takka football) is a lot closer to using players’ versatility than most other football game plans. only have to look at mascherano being the midfield playmaker from centre back, even michael carrick for man u getting time at the back. maybe we just need midfielders playing every position?
Lack of utility hurts players and their team
lovely read, couldnt help but chuckle at tamou and gallen
Diary of a Kiwi in Kangaroos clothing
and as a liverpool fan i feel i have a right to not really like emile heskey
Michael Ballack signs with A-League's Western Sydney Wanderers
actually i am in the top 1% of my field in the world, i also get fired up and post individual criticisms of other roarers because im a guru and know better
Michael Ballack signs with A-League's Western Sydney Wanderers
not bad, altho personally i’d have the ’06 Broncos up higher, that team on paper is probably the best i’ve seen since the early 90s Broncos and Raiders.
The best NRL team of the past 20 years: part four
yeh i dont think these guys have ever watched european rugby, where 5 of the blokes on each team have nothing to do
Rugby League should fight Union, not AFL
