First XI, XIII, XV quality armchair sportsman. Sometimes, I make comments that may be construed as being critical of the Panthers NRL team or organisation more broadly. None of that is intended to cause offence (as is the case with any other club, player, team, organisation that may or may not be the subject of a discussion thread on this site). I acknowledge the special place in the history of the universe of the Penrith Panthers NRL club, and the special peculiarities of their passionate support base. If anything I've said in the past, present or may say in the future is/was construed as personal criticism, I state that it is not intended to be so.

It’s one thing, I think, that Kevvy does particularly well. He loves Rugby league, and wants his team to love playing. It gives these creative players a lot of freedom.

Arthur pressure mounts as Parra fail to make domination count against battling Broncos

Last week I got Jock and Jack mixed up, too. Can’t wait until I can dyslexia my cure…

I think Te Kura’s lack of urgency heavily contributed to that try (taking nothing away from Tualagi, who I thought looked very promising for a young fella).
On that note, was Te Kura hooked? Gosiewski (apologies for spelling) was very ordinary, I thought, on that edge. I hope it was just first game jitters, but it was a night to forget.
Brisbane are still oscillating violently between 6/10 and 11/10. It’s wild to watch, but not great for the ol’ ticker. Glad Mariner had a good one after last week, Walsh played better without redlining too often. Rogers was the perfect replacement 7 – solid kicking game, strong in defence, got the ball to the right players…
Our scramble was amazing, but I can’t help but feel we really got away with that one. Parra left a lot of points out there.

NSW turmoil continues as Turbo's hamstring goes again and Manly chuck away another lead in Dolphins disaster

What’s Bostock’s story? He is a sneaky good player. Thought he was a decent winger last year when he got a start through other people’s bad luck, but I think I underestimated him…

Are Parra still looking for an ‘X’ factor player?
Personally, I think the Roosters should look at him. Keep them away from Walsh and Cobbo, if nothing else….

Rumour is that it’s already shortlisted for the 2025 Vegas campaign…

Spot on.

The fact that he could even stand afterwards… Dallas Johnson himself saluted.

FT, if the Roosters sign Walsh, we can’t be friends.

NRL News: Fifita picks his new club after dropping Titans bombshell, clubs warned whingeing players will be binned

$ouths should try and bring Crichton home. They need some forwards with a bit of venom.

You leave Selwyn out of this!

Poor Tom and his hamstring… I admit, though, at first I thought he went off for a HIA following that vicious blow to head he copped from Bromwich…
In any case, great win from the ‘Phins. Manly losing Saab early were unlucky. Herbie looked very good, even if short of a gallop. Fuller is really fun to watch, and with the amount of forwards going down all over the place, Max Plath might just be a smokey for the Maroons squad. Wouldn’t make the 17, but he’s like Hopgood two years ago… Should Brisbane be compensated for having another junior poached?
Hmmmm…. 😛

Those odds are shortening now that the Titans have Schuster money…

NRL News: Fifita picks his new club after dropping Titans bombshell, clubs warned whingeing players will be binned

How many times have we heard Gus and Johns say ‘the problem is, the ref doesn’t understand the flow of the game’. Ad nauseum.
I say, get rid of all the officials, and let the players just sort it out. Hell, throw in a couple of chainsaws just to make it interesting.
Two teams enter, one team leaves.

Signing an ‘off contract’ player is not poaching.
Otherwise, Penrith could be considered to be ‘poaching’ ( or at least attempting) to ‘poach’ Fifita.
Anyone else got a sudden craving for Eggs Benedict?

Panthers' plea for player development discounts will fall on deaf ears - and Fifita is not the answer to their JFH dilemma

I say this without any specific criticism, but is everyone else getting real tired of the three, four sometimes five ‘six again” calls in the attacking 10? As Broncos man, we are certainly no angels, but it seems to me we’re back in days when the Roosters in particular, would just love offside in the ten and dare the ref to do something about. I would say the Panthers really pushed the envelope last night, but I can’t actually remember where that envelope is, or what it looks like…

Besieged Bunnies show some fight before Panthers flex their muscles - but Tago facing ban for dangerous hip drop

Whatever my personal view of Api might be, the rubric for judgement is always, “how filthy would I be if that happened to my team?”
In this case, I’d be filthy.

Koroisau limps out of Tigers' defeat to Broncos after being cruelled by the harshest Bunker call of the year

Key takeaway from that game is that big Xavier Willison is going to be in Kevvy’s office Monday morning asking for fullback money.

Koroisau limps out of Tigers' defeat to Broncos after being cruelled by the harshest Bunker call of the year

It’s one of those ones where, if he’d ended Munster’s season (which was possible with a tackle like that) he would likely be getting a whole lot longer on the pine.
Not the way it should be, in my view. But some offences certainly have an element of being outcome based.

NRL Round 8 judiciary: Massive Manly blow as Haumole and DCE banned, Sivo charged for 'stupid' hit

Interesting that Kevvy went with Cogger at 6. Might have been tempted to slot Sailor in there just to see what happens.
I’m sure Cogger will be fine, but his style isn’t as close to Mam as Sailor’s is.

I know he didn’t do all of the kicking, but I think that might have been Jock Madden’s best game I’ve seen. Some of those towering bombs were filthy. Amazing that Stewart caught as many as he did.
I seem to recall Dylan Edwards having a waaaay harder time early in his career. He seems to have recovered okay.
