Football Hipster. Favourite player is the spaniard, Albert Riera of the Wellington Phoenix \'I came here for a holiday and now I am a professional footballer. How good is that?\'

I’ve seen Terry McFlyyn do keepy uppies at half way and then hit the crossbar.

Sydney FC's transfer window

WSW play disgusting football! It’s all hit & hope crosses. Perth, Heart and Jets were starting to play good football…

Strange that there is no mention that in England, Spain & Germany it is accepted that some form a salary cap has to come in soon. No on referencing the new UEFA restrictions?
I don’t think money is holding back A League clubs in the ACL, the travel and times of games stuff them more because no matter how much money they spend they still have to field 8 Australians.

Salary cap a blessing for the A-League

Where is the stats breakdown? Where are you quoting this information from? What’s the definition of ‘football culture’?
I ask those questions, because I can’t fathom any scenario where Northern Sydney is viable using your layman statistics.
NSW 1/10 People in the South Coast & North Sydney are 1 hour away from the A-League and already watch the games. NSW has four teams, that’s twice as much as any other state.

-TASMANIA 6/10 I am assuming the FFA are testing Tasmania with their support of Melbourne Victory games there, whilst it doesn’t have a 2000 Postcode, it has the benefit of being the only professional football team in the state, this also increases television exposure equals more revenue.

-AUCKLAND 2/10 Auckland can’t have team for the reason New Zealand does not have enough talent to go around. Propping up Wellington and having a strong second tier is the way to go for FNZ.

-GEELONG 4/10 I can appreciate a Geelong team, however they do have two Melbourne sides an hour away and with no ground they are in no situation to call unfair treatment. If they got a 15k football stadium and Victory/Heart games they can then have a go.
Stop saying the Heart don’t have an identity and need to merge to survive. That’s false and unnecessary cynicism. South Melbourne have to settle for the VPL and FFA Cup because they’re not even powerhouses in the VPL.

– WA/SA 3/10 South and Western Australia have what is most required for a football team in talent. WA could field second side very easily, it’s just where would they play? Glory hardly pull enough. SA have all required for a second side, but similar to FNZ and South Melbourne, should cement NPL dominance first.

I don’t have the patience to write a summary of Canberra as I as seething at your article, however they got the required $1M, have a stadium and a strong amateur league. 5/10

Where to expand next for the A-League?

One, two, three… four & five cliches in one article! Great read Mike and really refreshing journalism. How are the worst team ever going to win? It’sIt’s outrageous, egregious, preposterous!

*cough cough* Port Adelaide, Southampton, Sydney FC, Newcastle Jets, LA Galaxy, Adelaide United, Central Coast Mariners, Western Sydney Wanderers…

Is it such a bad thing if Melbourne Heart finish last?

the reason Tottenham can’t score is because they play super defensively. They don’t even go after the poor teams and it’s really boring to watch, AVB is frightened of conceding so the players are also scared. I agree with your eleven, however I’d prefer more English. They have the Centre Mids and Wingers, just let them go Boas!

Villas-Boas doesn't know his first eleven

Australia are heading into this World Cup as out side favourites, FIFA have decided to ‘modernise’. Under advice from Spain, Holland and Postecogclou have removed all goal posts/sidelines/strikers and the winner is the one with the most passes. Exciting stuff.

Postecogclou's 'pass and pressure' game a coup for Socceroos
