As a fan, it was embarrassing and upsetting to see the way Jamie was treated before he left the club. Hopefully, he realizes it was a vocal minority, and most of us will always think of him as a Dragon and be forever grateful for the title he was so instrumental in bringing us.

JAMIE SOWARD: Turbo factor that ranks him above Hayne and Barba for greatest ever season

Hayne had some of the greatest individual brilliance we’ve seen, but he was an individual player in the ultimate team sport. Turbo is consistently great and all about the team. Hopefully, Melbourne can’t contain him like they did last time. But the most important point is Manly keeping the errors close to zero. Tommy won’t have enough say if errors creep in cause the Storm response is deadly.

Brilliant venue for the GF. But Annastacia and “Depending on COVID-19, that can be to a packed stadium….” is a bit of worry. Fingers crossed.

NRL confirms 2021 grand final venue

Agree Paul. There are plenty of younger playmakers who aren’t having anywhere near the influence Benji is having on games. If the body is willing he looks like he has another year in him.

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions: Finals Week 1

You nailed it at the end Tim. It’s the fairy tale (which it isn’t really because as usual teams get written off way too early) and the fact most of us want them to beat the Storm. After that, they’ll be relegated to somewhere near the bottom of the top 8 for popularity.

Manly are the 'People's Team'? You'd better believe it!

Excellent way of portraying the team’s LL. I’ll be showing love and support but money’s what talks so I’ll be putting mine on bad manners and over-the-top celebrations.

Which NRL team should you cheer for now that yours has missed the finals?

Love “quest to beat the Storm”. It should be more of a year-round phenomenon.
I reckon Manly and the Titans will get up. Probably wishful thinking.

I’m trying to.

'Momentously bad': Dragons' call on Sims is outrageous

This story certainly generated a lot of discussion and some interesting debate. And many expressed the view that my intro was out of order. It’s probably past the point of getting much attention but I am going to exercise my right of reply.
On the topic of climate change, I would love to write about it to a wider audience one day – in the correct setting of course. And after first arming myself with in-depth knowledge of the reputable science out there. But the reality, and I know this won’t wash with some people, is that the story had absolutely nothing to do with climate change or new coal mines. I was comparing getting fired up about magnanimous decisions that have national and international ramifications with…..a sporting club. It was firmly tongue in cheek. It was a dramatic introduction to a topic that in the scheme of things will, unfortunately, be forgotten by Friday. But like most who are reading this, I have a passion for my sport and do get worked up about decisions and results. It adds to the drama.
As for it being unacceptable to use a political example in a sporting discussion? I don’t know. Who makes the rules? I didn’t break any laws or vilify anyone. I chose to let my view on a couple of topics be known to get attention for the story. It certainly had an effect! But these are just my views. I’m a bit upset that the whole NRL world doesn’t agree with my view on Tariq Sims but that’s the reality of opinions
Did I choose the wrong topic for the intro? I could have chosen any other major worldview, and still created a difference of opinion. I could have gone the safe beauty pageant line and wished for world peace. But I’m not much to look at.
I could have left the comparison out altogether, which would have detracted from what I set out to achieve. But, in hindsight, would I phrase it the same if writing it again? Possibly not. I would like to think that when I write I never set out to upset anyone. And I certainly wouldn’t want myself or anyone else out there to blow a fu-fu valve.

Well done. A couple of all-time favorites there. What a gentleman and legend in Darren Lockyer. And Steve Renouf was up there for the wingers. No denying the standing of Slater & Smith but didn’t love them quite so much.

The club stalwarts: Brisbane and Melbourne

Thanks for the read Avatar. As usual, the sweetheart of Australian sport took it with her usual good grace.

Yeah, I hadn’t joined The Roar when McInnes was let go, but I would have made a comment if I was. We couldn’t have kept Frizell but in my humble opinion, McInnes was the last player they should have pushed out.

Pleased for Barrett. I feel for Madge, but “lowly 13th, their worst finish in Maguire’s three years in charge”. It will be a nervous time for him.

Yeah, it’s hard to see things changing very much

Nightmares from Tiger Town: Madge's men hit rock bottom

It looks like things are falling into place at the right time for Penrith. And Manly finished the regular season just like Des would have wanted. If reports are true that Munster had a scope and knee infection, that could be a real problem for the Storm. If the Titans play like they did against the Warriors, they might upset the exhausted Roosters. My team are long gone so I’ll be hoping Parra can go deep into the finals.

You might be right that Johnson is the best fullback option, but that’s a problem for Souths because as a fullback he makes a very good winger. Not much of a test for the Bunnies last night unfortunately

Young Bunnies get the job done against Dragons

How many different coaches do we have to get fed up with? I wouldn’t be going after someone that has the potential to be a good coach. Many with great potential or who have been recommended by other good coaches have turned out not to be up to it. We need a coach with proven performance and who can attract the big-name players. Flanno is the only one currently available.

Kikau in, Sims kicked out? Huge change at Dragons tipped as Tariq told to look elsewhere

Thanks for the tip. Looking at it I can see that my memory’s a bit hazy on the specifics but the essence is pretty spot on. What a sight he was in full flight!

Twin peaks: The Morris brothers embody everything good about rugby league

If the Panthers are playing their cards close to their chests, they must have some pretty lethal moves planned. They’ve been happy to show off their pretty effective scrum play a few times already.

‘Incredibly dangerous’: Panthers' win forms blueprint for Souths

I have to begrudgingly agree. No coach ever had Brett playing like Robinson did. At the Dragons his job was to stay on his wing & score tries. Which was a job he did better than anyone else.

Thanks Nat. I searched for that footage without success because I wanted to reference the game and year. Well done!
