Also very excited to see Jerome Randle take to the court.

As a big Isaiah Thomas fan, looking forward to seeing another smaller (175cm) scoring machine take to the court.

He comes with big raps, pundits are already calling him one of the quickest ball handlers to come to these fair shores.

Can he kick start a stuttering Adelaide offence?

Going to be fun to watch.

Adelaide 36ers vs Cairns Taipans: NBL results, scores, blog

Expecting a close one here tonight, Adelaide will be desperate to get their season back on track while Cairns are one of the deepest teams in the competition.

Further to this, both teams split their results at home and away last season.

In fact, 10 of the past 12 games between these sides have been decided by 10-points or less.

Expect this one to be a two or three possession game max!!

Hey there,

Welcome to tonight’s live coverage of the NBL fixture between the Adelaide 36ers and Cairns Taipans.

The game is shaping up as an enthralling contest with both teams looking to find their spark from the offensive end.

Adelaide are coming into the game with a new import, Jerome Randall who by all accounts has been cleared to take the floor.

Randle was a star at the University of California Bears and played for the Milwaukee Bucks in this year’s Summer League.

It will be interesting to the see the role given to Randle in his debut given he has only just set foot in the Country however the home fans will be looking forward to seeing his much talked about handles and ability to score in action.

For the Taipans, they have also had their offensive issues in the first part of the season, despite again having another strong start to the season.

Taipans forward, Cameron Tragardh, who has been battling a calf injury will play his 300th NBL game tonight.

Should be a good close game, I’m tipping Cairns by six.

Tip off in 10

No worries mate.

Was just contemplating that myself.

They have too many weapons at the moment.

Take away Goulding and Kickert starts impersonating Steph Curry from deep.

The scary thing is, I think Warwick is cruising. He looks like he has another couple of gears.

I enjoy watching Holt play as well, he’s a very handy distributor.

Melbourne United have continued their winning start to the season after defeating the Adelaide 36ers 84-75 in an entertaining and high tempo clash.

Adelaide looked like causing an upset after sticking with United through the first half before the home team pulled away late in the third.

While Melbourne had five players in double figures it was the big man, Daniel Kickert who did much of the damage with 22 points on the back of six three pointers.

Adelaide did a good job of defending the dangerous Goulding for much of the match however he came alive in the second half as he drew two big charges and finished with 14 points.

Other standouts for Melbourne included Hakim Warrick who looked very comfortable scoring 16 points and grabbing seven boards while Stephen Holt demonstrated his all-round value with 11 points and seven assists.

Melbourne again put on a display in pace and space shooting a remarkable 45 percent on 31 three point attempts.

Adam Gibson stood tall for Adelaide playing strong defense on Goulding wile chipping in with 17 points of his own.

Daniel Johnson came out blazing in the first half but was kept quiet after the break to finish with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Adelaide supporters will be wanting more out of both imports after Ebi Ere and Kenyon McNeial only showed flashes of their potential in a very patchy performance.

Both players finished with 10 points but were quiet for much of the game and will need to improve if Adelaide are to challenge the top sides this year.

While Melbourne looked a little rusty at times in the first half their second stanza performance will have opposing coaches concerned.

Daniel Kickert named Man of the Match on the back of his six three pointers.

He proved himself a handful tonight.

Kickert shoooting adds another problem for opposing defences – if you choose to double Goulding or Warwick then Kickert will make you pay.

Great game from the big man.

Gibson nails a three for Adelaide but it’s all rudimentary here.

Melbourne dribbles out the clock to secure their third win on the trot.

Gibson is fouled shooting the three, he seemed to leave his leg out there but Adelaide wont complain with the call.

Timeout Adelaide.

The 36ers are going to need something special from here.

Melbourne look very comfortable with Warwick in particular scoring at will.

Give the 36ers credit they are continuing to scrap here….will it come to anything though.

Things getting a touch loose here.

Warwick misses both free throws.

Goulding misses the tech.

The United are doing their best Dwight Howard impression from the line.

Warwick makes up for it with a sweet little jumper.

THREE QUARTERTIME

A rough start to the third offensively for both teams before Chris Goulding got things going from deep.

Adelaide hung tough on the defensive end but struggled to stay in touch as their offence continued to stall.

Ere kept them in the game with some big late shots and you get the feeling that he will need a big final quarter if Adelaide are to sneak home here.

Danger signs for Adelaide with Goulding really starting to hit his stride.

Big last quarter here.
