Why don’t we just pick NSW for the rest of the summer?
Great re-telling of a fascinating story!
In Melbourne, 80 years ago, when captain Bradman did the unexpected
Cheers Dizzy love your work as always too.
DIZZY: Marsh brothers to answer critics in first Test
Dizzy – I am intererested in the thoughts with having to have an all-rounder at 6? Shouldn’t we be looking at cementing a strong batting six? I thought the 5th bowling option in Sri Lanka was horribly under-utilised. While I agree M Marsh is a very promising bowler, he is not quite there yet for front-line action.
DIZZY: Marsh brothers to answer critics in first Test
Article title refers to India on the horizon – and picks Handsombe who isn’t even keeping for his state!
Yesterday I wrote we need to forget the all-rounder and focus on settling a top 6. Herein lies the problem – you are picking Faulkner at 6 with a first class average of 31.
The other interesting aspect, Nathan Lyon is a very good spinner working as a stock bowler with 3 quicks. He is not a strike bowler and we need to think how to utilise this with India. We actually don’t have too many good spinners out there if Jon Holland is our third best and has out mistake in the past going there with underdone and out of their depth second and third tweakers?
If you look at the all-rounder spot in Sri Lanka, it was a waste as the third seamer was rarely used.
You noted Cam Ferguson scored a ton and ‘is a sign of the type of form he is in’ – what about Burns against NSW?!?!
Siddle has not had a 5 wicket haul in more than three years – clock must be ticking.
With India on the horizon, here's how Australia's Test side should line up
Wilson – as a Swans fan I think Mitchell is a great pick up for the Hawks – but Sam Mitchell he is not. Certainly great in tight player but lacks S Mitchell’s skills of both feet.
AFL trade rumours: Five big questions we need answered
Jim completely agree solid trade
RATE THE TRADE: Tom Mitchell a Hawk for first-round pick
G-fox – yes she did – went to an elderly relative (I asked same question myself!)
All Dogs go to heaven: Swanning it up at the Big Dance
Cheers PD – and congrats! Dale Morris was an absolute rock on Saturday. JJ was certainly a ball butcherer on the weekend.
All Dogs go to heaven: Swanning it up at the Big Dance
Thanks Jim – agree about the passengers – but the pleasing thing as you noted is that most of those guys are first-year players and will be better for the experience. Grundy, Rampe and Kennedy enormous. I really liked the Naismith Nankervis ruck combo through the season – they complement each other so well – and it will be interesting to see if they can hang onto big Toby.

PD – awesome stuff you must be nervous! Good luck for Saturday
The game's greatest entertainers
Cheers mate it did read as a Stadium member not happy with the infiltration of riff raff 🙂 On the stupid clackers – my father does not come to the footy now purely because of those!
Battle of the Bridge? Sydney derby? Call it what you will, it was rubbish!
Stuart – interesting thoughts.
Couple of things to challenge – the surface was appalling – if you went on the ground after the game (by the sounds of it you would have fled your fellow man or stayed in the comfy confines of the Members Bar), patches in the ground had been filled with sand, and then spray painted green! Both sides were slipping and sliding everywhere.
Secondly, your dream of a prelim at ANZ is dashed as Spotless is hosting. That is a fair indictment on what the AFL thinks of ANZ.
I absolutely agree with you about the ‘doof doof’ music and match day entertainers. It is a growing indictment and Americanisation on the game, but has also transended to league and union. The crowd should be the voice.
I can assure you there were some pretty annoyed Swans fans there – and sorry that you felt the game was a bit too corporatised in the ANZ Member’s stand. Fair play GWS, they pounded us.

Heeney’s first final and not everyone will fire. Was at the game and misery 🙂
Sydney, don't mention the F word
Tom – thanks – my point re Rohan and Lloyd was that in their development they should be now making meaningful contributions in the pressure of fiinals – 60-100 gamers, The young guys that have come into the group (Aliir Aliir, Papley and Hewett) generally held up ok.
Sydney, don't mention the F word
Winston – would love your opinion on Dean Towers if you hate watching Mills play 🙂
This is the best AFL Rising Star crop we've ever seen
Ryan – other point of note is that Callum Mills has never played half-back in junior footy – adds to his incredible debut year.

Typo fail – ten goals up !
Dear Gill - it's Father's Day, and there is no footy on the TV!
Don it will feel weird not having Ross Lyon coaching a team to kick seven goals for a game, 5 of which are in the third quarter, and still win ?
Dear Gill - it's Father's Day, and there is no footy on the TV!
Gecko I feel your pain – I’m a better dad when I’m watching and my side are team goals up ?

Love it – Joe Mennie is the Brad Wigney or Shane George?
