Agreed- too many variables in a 16-team comp to award it to one team retrospectively.
Every team Melbourne beat in that period has legitimate grievances.

It’s not too late to right the wrongs from the Storm salary cap fiasco

Melbourne won minor premiership in 2011, Manly the title. Melbourne won title in 2012.

'They were always thinking about us and playing for us': Fans on supporting the Storm

Really put it into perspective when I complained to my Dragons supporter friend about our prelim loss. Hard to find sympathy from other fans.
“Our record-breaking season didn’t even get us to the GF!” was followed up with “Oh boo-hoo, I’m playing the world’s smallest violin!”

'They were always thinking about us and playing for us': Fans on supporting the Storm

It was the Roosters who went back-to-back, not Melbourne.
But Manly are now expected favorites by a few- and I can guarantee Tommy will have a few more PowerPoints on him every week than he might like.

Here's why Manly will win the 2022 NRL premiership

Traitor, loser, $laver confederate generals are great men??

Castle certain Folau sacking was right call but admits she would 'do some things differently'

While I could pass on Izzy’s cauliflower-brained spoutings, I commend him for giving news outlets infinite ammunition from now until after the World Cup. Doing his bit for the media.

Rugby World: Folau must 'show values' over 18 months, Coleman's plan to reignite Tahs, SBW's Bok shock

Their main focus should be turning up for big games. Their record against teams higher than them was glaring. No-shows in the first week of finals against the minor premiers and then galavanting against a team below. They’ve clearly got the talent to be thereabouts, but they need to focus on claiming the big scalps.

NRL 2022 Radar: How Manly’s hopes rest on more than just Turbo’s hammies

Chelsea must throw any money they can at Rudiger. Genuinely our rock in defence that led us to glory.

Transfer rumours: PSG may let Mbappe go, Cavani to stay and West Ham’s stars in high demand

Really Cheese? Those guys? Most Storm fans are especially hurt because it’s…. them.
Good luck I guess- this hurts almost as much as Cronk going there.

Roosters sign Storm star Smith

Accusations of ‘tanking’ have floated around the NBA, NFL etc since drafts began.. the Tigers would be prime suspects if the draft was introduced here.
As for draft picks etc rather than out and out signings- give us a draft pick near the bottom and we’ll turn em into superstars- as has been our way for two decades 😛

'Tired of seeing the Storm be so dominant': Why the NRL needs a draft

Any more Cooper Cronk love is fine by me. Great read and series Tony.

The greatest grand finalists of the last 70 years

Billy’s won two B.O.G’s in two GF victories, he just happens to have been pipped by the man the B.O.G is named after. Quite unlucky I admit.

The greatest grand finalists of the last 70 years

Very under-rated player, congrats on retirement.

'Shattered' Maloney bids emotional farewell to rugby league after tense grand final loss

Hopefully he does as well as he did last year 😂

Cleary ready to shoulder grand final responsibility

Didn’t deserve a suspension- got a penalty as deserved. Move on to what will be a great game.

Cleary CLEARED: Panthers skipper a free man for grand final

While my purple blood doesn’t allow me to tolerate Manly, I’m very interested to see them play this week. I agree that the first week of finals was a wake-up call to the Seagles and I want to see them prove they can match it with the big boys. If they make the GF it will definitely have been off the back of a team effort- something they have almost actually had to prove is possible- after Tommy has put them on his back this season.
My only concern for them is their form against other top-4 teams.

Déjà vu – Manly to take down Souths in the preliminary final again

I’m always apprehensive about saying this… but I’m real confident.
Penrith have had two back-to-back dogfights with low scoring and defensive grit. Their win over Parra showed that they were up for an arm-wrestle, but also that their attack was clunky. No rhythm.
And the Storm won’t care one damn bit. Their week off comes off the back of a dominant win in which they didn’t over-exert themselves- they’ll be full of running. And when Addo-Carr, Papenhuyzen, Hughes and Munster are full of running, no team can stop them.
Combining a Melbourne team that is fresh from a week off that has boundless energy and devastating form against a Penrith team that has played back to back grindfests that went the full 80 and has struggled to score, I’m backing the Storm.
While it’s not quite the same circumstances, before last year’s Storm/Raiders prelim I and others predicted the Storm would blow Canberra away due to the Raiders playing what felt like their Grand Final a week before. And it’s starting to feel a little similar.

Who would you prefer we play in Week 3 Joe?

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions: Semi-finals

Totally agree, by the letter of the law it was a drop kick. Even though Gutho intended to kick it, he missed and then connected, so it might have looked messy but I think the try should have stood. A lot might not like their chances next week, but we’ve seen them play very, very well recently and they could take optimism into next week and possibly beyond.
On the Slater incident- it still amuses me. After Billy scored, he stood up shaking his head and told the ref he’d dropped it- but the decision of ‘try’ still stood.

Did the 'Billy Slater rule' save Parra? Talking points from the Eels' controversial win over the Knights

Nowhere near the most disliked, but I think people are starting to see the cockiness and confidence remain while the results and dominance have left. They’re back in the pack now but their attitude is still ‘we are the top dogs’.

Panthers face a hard road back to the grand final

The Storm have beaten Manly 40-12 in three consecutive finals meetings between the two- what an incredibly odd record.
And that was definitely down to what a lot of people predicted would win the game- the forward ‘battle’. I remember last year, giving Christian Welch praise after the win against Parra in week 1 for taking big runs and leading the pack behind Brom/Finucane- and he did it again this season. Dominated the forward battle and put the Storm on the front foot every time. Fantastic all-round by Storm but definitely biggest impact from the Welchman.

'They're in the business of taking souls': Talking points from the Storm’s crushing win over Manly

Most people will either take Storm as a comfort tip- it is September. They know how to win.
But Manly are really finding their form and Tommy’s limits are infinite. I think, with some slight bias, the Storm will grind the Eagles down and win the forward battle.

Having said that, let’s go Storm for 41-0 and Papi for 4 tries!

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions: Finals Week 1

Robinson is definitely in the conversation for coach of the year honours, but it has to be Bellamy. Equalling the 19-straight wins, record F/A and a minor premiership, after losing Cam.
I also feel Des is worth a shout.

NRL Round 25 talking points: Resting to be tested and Cecchin gets late respect

Hoping for a 41-0, we will finally get to see though how the Eagles perform come finals. They’ve been their own worst enemies in big games sometimes this year.
