THE STORY SO FAR –
Half way through their innings Ireland seemed to be in control.
Captain Porterfield set up his team nicely with a knock of 107, his first century of the tournament.
Unfortunately no one wanted to join the party.
Once Wilson was caught out on 29, the tail failed to wag and in the end Ireland managed a total of 237 runs.
Pakistan’s bowlers showed why they are so respected. Their death bowling in particular was impressive – they bowled full and short and terrorised the Irish tail.
So now that both teams have played their trump card – Ireland their batting and Pakistan their bowling – the question remains: which team will hold their nerve and progress to the quarterfinals?
Pakistan will need 238 runs to win. A modest total, but chasing down runs is not their strength.
Join us after the break to see if Pakistan can make it 4 wins in a row or if the luck of the Irish will prevail.
