Dubai is a long time ago now – what did all these guys do in the last T20 World Cup? , at home I might add…

Bona fide 'passengers', no-brainers and 'Agar from Wish': A candid look at India's perplexing T20 WC squad

Of the four I mentioned he’s probably the one I have least issue being in the squad – but I feel those numbers are boosted by a lot of meaningless performances in bilateral series, as it feels just about every time he comes in under any real pressure he capitulates against spin bowling (with the exception being that one time with Wade v Pakistan)
I think his bowling is handy enough, but we didn’t need both him and Green in the squad, if they wanted Stoinis, no need for Green and could’ve gone with JFM or Short instead.
Warner should be absolutely nowhere near the squad on current form and age.

Given his recent injury history you may struggle to see much of Rafa on the field. Be a good mental skills coach though! Tough as nails.

Massive overreaction to Sam Draper non-story proves players can't even enjoy harmless fun anymore

This website almost lost me when they brought him in to write for a while – thankfully it seems like he’s no longer involved.

Yeah I’d like to hear more from players and less from these ‘so called’ journos. It’s why I think Will Schofield is such a rare breed – he’s been able to transition from player to media personality without losing his personality and turning into a choirboy.

The guy is a joker, his past isn’t exactly squeaky clean but he constantly has it in for AFL players.
We need more Sam Drapers and less Tom Morris’ in the AFL industry.

Or alternatively you could win and effectively be the team that finishes Bevo off – it’ll go one of two ways this week – either Doggies will mount a big response and win by 10+ goals, or they’ll lose and Bevo will be gone Monday.

Agree it’s ridiculous. Was listening to Will Schofield on the shelter podcast who said exactly the same thing – let players have personality and encourage them to get involved in things like podcasts – all Draper did was express a pretty well known fact that Bevo is on the nose at the doggies – bit of playful banter against a rival side.
Play on…

Your comments on Indias selections could be mirrored for Australia too – picking Warner, Stoinis, Starc, Wade are all based entirely on name alone rather than any merit based selection criteria.
Glad other countries are also following the same laughable conservative selection logic as it means we are still a chance even with the dads army squad we are taking.

I think Treacy and Amiss will both be better than Logan McDonald.
Freo need to trade for a high quality small forward more than anything else!

Six Points: Bevo's Bulldogs reach breaking point, dangerous tackle loophole must be closed, and 2024's worst coach-killer

If I had to pick a team that misses its Essendon – they are the flakiest of the teams in the 8.
I’m not 100% sure on my boys yet, we can look real good one week then put in a performance like against WCE that completely shakes any confidence I had.
I think Carlton and Port are strong enough and should make it.

Six Points: Bevo's Bulldogs reach breaking point, dangerous tackle loophole must be closed, and 2024's worst coach-killer

Spot on – the AFL were desperate for the Bulldogs fairytale that year. Sydney were absolutely dudded in that game.

Six Points: Bevo's Bulldogs reach breaking point, dangerous tackle loophole must be closed, and 2024's worst coach-killer

I watched it – that was a very abnormal experience to see my side as a non vic side get the rub of the green for once – it’s pretty regular the other way, but it goes unnoticed until once in a blue moon it’s a vic side on the wrong end of it.
Happens to the interstate side far more often – see Adelaide v Essendon and Freo v Carlton this year already.

No, his last sentence is probably pretty accurate.

Brisbane are also cruelled by injury so I think it’ll be a bridge too far for them. I think Collingwood are the only team currently outside the 8 that makes it in – that will mean one of Freo, Essendon, Carlton or Port makes way as the top 4 are all safe.

Six Points: Bevo's Bulldogs reach breaking point, dangerous tackle loophole must be closed, and 2024's worst coach-killer

Think you are reading into that way too much – the reality is Fox is just a far superior product to 7 in basically all aspects.
It’s no surprise people comment on how bad 7 is – it objectively is a garbage broadcast product.

Six Points: Bevo's Bulldogs reach breaking point, dangerous tackle loophole must be closed, and 2024's worst coach-killer

Good point about Matt Hill – clearly the best caller along with Papalia.
The thing is because he’s a horse racing caller he probably only has limited availability- definitely no Saturday games.

Agar took a lot of wickets in the West Indies last time Aus toured there – that’s probably what’s gotten him over the line. Only a couple of years ago he was close to the number one T20I bowler.
He did have a poor BBL though.

T20 World Cup: Marsh named captain, Smith and Fraser-McGurk miss out

If only Warne was an option…

T20 World Cup: Marsh named captain, Smith and Fraser-McGurk miss out

He is, but the chance of him playing another innings like vs Afghanistan gets him over the line.
What you can’t then do is surround him with other out of form players.

T20 World Cup: Marsh named captain, Smith and Fraser-McGurk miss out

How is it between him and Head? Those two together would make the most damaging opening partnership in international cricket. Drop the old man Warner.

T20 World Cup: Marsh named captain, Smith and Fraser-McGurk miss out

Ellis has to play, he’s the only point of difference in that attack. One of Starc or Cummins miss for mine, probably Starc on form – but it’s likely he will beat up on Namibia, Scotland and Oman and they’ll think he’s in form, only to get belted around by the better sides.

Australia T20 World Cup squad: Smith to be snubbed, Fraser-McGurk's IPL fireworks ignored as selectors take safe options

Of all of the batters JFM could replace in this squad, David is the one I’d keep. I’d play JFM ahead of Warner, Wade, Stoinis or Green, but David is an absolute walk up imo.

T20 World Cup: Marsh named captain, Smith and Fraser-McGurk miss out

People hate hearing this, but the answer is obvious. When the chairman of selectors is such good mates with all the older players as he’s a former teammate, he cannot make tough decisions.
The tough decision would’ve been to say “Sorry Davey but this young kid is better than you” but because Warner wanted to go to the States for one last trip with Dads Army, George obliged and left out one of our next generational talents in the process.

Australia T20 World Cup squad: Smith to be snubbed, Fraser-McGurk's IPL fireworks ignored as selectors take safe options

Again – it’s not like there aren’t other options out there. Spencer Johnson and Xavier Bartlett…
Selectors are blatantly ignoring the poor form of Starc and Warner so they can give them a ‘farewell’ World Cup – they did the same with Finch last World Cup.
