If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away' [Henry David Thoreau]. I'm a bit of a sports addict, love competition.

You think?? I always got the feeling that Broncos had powerful media support.

NRL Round 6 Talking Points: Concussion sub needs a fix, learning about 'disruption', why does everyone hate Gutho?

fair ’nuff. and fyi I didn’t blindly accept that Stewart was offside, just noted it was what I had heard (pretty confidently) so I raised it as a distinct possibility. We shall just not agree on GP 🙂

Your assumption that a game is boring just because it’s a draw is flawed. There was a games worth of drama in the final kick. Which should have been rewarded. As it stands, he might as well just booted the ball into the crowd and walked off, for all the good that amazing moment gave. It was spoiled and soiled by GP. Haven’t seen the replay, but I hear the blocker was well offside – had the bunker bothered to do their job. Had that been called a penalty you’d be singing a different tune.
So many people are all for the GP, until their team loses because of an offside block or poor call. Or have a major player go down with an injury.
GP sucks and loses badly in any pro/con listing.

She’d have LM & Walker pumped and jumping, that’s for sure. She understands the creative spirit..

doesnt matter and not my point. Des right or wrong doesnt matter, Titans in the dumps so no big backlash on officials if they stuff up. Spooners don’t get any benefit of the doubt.

You have a point and I’m not defending anyone, just the obvious and it has been on for years, in a lot of cases 50/50 calls will go for the top clubs rather than the downers. Refs then have less scrutiny or pressure if an error costs a team a top 8 spot for example.

Pro big club media. Who do you think and why are you so twitchy about it??

Round 6 musings;-
Time to ditch GP. A draw is a fair result for the comp rounds, provides all combatants a fair points result, avoid tired and expensive bodies exposed to injury, avoid boring FG-fests, avoid refs making dubious and very inconsistent calls because they ‘don’t want to influence the result or cop it for an error’. The only reason it exists to for the gambling dollar, which gives the industry more power over the game that it shouldn’t have.
Bunker sucketh.
Competition will be close this year, while Dragoons, Tigers, Dogs, Souths, Knights and even maybe Titans won’t feature in the finals they will shake up the ladder by causing more than their fair share of ‘upsets’. You could possibly even add Dolphins and Eels to that list.
More forward pass tries. Not as distasteful as other weeks, but still could be fixed if the management had some courage.
Gutho just wears his heart on his sleeve, I don’t know how much could be actual dislike as opposed to looking to wind him up. Yet, might be time for refs to start penalising histrionics. ‘Hey #6, your job is to play, mine to ref. I don’t tell you how to catch and run, don’t tell me how to ref”. ALSO, dump the CC as it asks for argument and left the official opinion stand.
What money Lomax ends up on the wing ultimately..
Finally, on the topic of stopping kick-offs due to collisions, it’s on the players. No need to change rules, I mean, you don’t have to kick off that deep. In fact, my nan has an idea that if you kick aiming for the 25, you arrive when the ball does and the receiving team has no momentum and you can control who catches the ball and can actually push a player back. You start the sets dominant and less impact issues (except you smashing them…). Smart, my nan…

It’s is a sad fact that teams in the cellar get the rough end of the ref’s musings. Easier to shaft someone like Titans and for Des to be deemed another whinger than, say Broncos and cop a hiding. Refs get poor support from their management.

A 4 yr contract for anyone almost guarantees 2 years, usually the 2nd & 3rd, of mediocrity. Everyone puts in when it’s their contract renegotiation year…

Lomax shines on a wing with some flair in Dragons' win over Tigers as Bunker hauls off Bird but spares Klemmer ... twice

I agree of sorts. Fatty can have humour but can go into the drain a bit and ruin his impact. I remember his journalism debut which involved a crass and detailed recount of an Arthur Beetson fart on the Origin bus. Really low level stuff, he can do so much better.

Viewers need more of Paul the analyst, less of Fatty the class clown's cringeworthy commentating

DCE and Johnson put on masterclass as Warriors and Manly can't be split after controversial Bunker call

Goes to show that there is nothing wrong with an honourable draw. Ditch Golden Point for the rounds, only necessary in finals.

DCE and Johnson put on masterclass as Warriors and Manly can't be split after controversial Bunker call

And a draw is a fair result.

I’m torn with tonight, Roosters have stuffed me over this year. I’ve back them and the first two outing were good then they lost to Penrith and I blamed the stupid bunker call and kept the faith. Then that shocker against the Dogs. They don’t deserve another tip from me but after I tip Knights the %&$ chooks will get up…
Storm is almost the easiest pick.
Broncos with trepidation.. my bunion says it’s a ‘phins win but it sometimes backs losers..
Warriors, Manly are suspect once you cross the Spit.
Thinking Eels might spring a surprise. Cows are winning but not with grand emphasis.
Sharks without huge confidence, beware the wounded bunny.
Raider the easiest pick.
Not mentioning the other game…

The Roar's NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 6 - battle for Brisbane, Roosters written off, will Demetriou survive?

Rather an insult to Sailor in a way.
I had a relative in that position once back in a day. Would come in for the ‘star’ and play awesoem, often better and close to MOM many times. The star would return and without any evidence of form take their spot back. There was a time you had to work your way back and prove your fitness in reggies.

The Roar's NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 6 - battle for Brisbane, Roosters written off, will Demetriou survive?

NRL tipping for Round 6 appears straightforward‘ Don’t know about that.
Knights v Chooks can’t be an easy pick, Rooster still have a top class team.
Parra v Cows an each way of sorts.
Of the others,
Broncos v Dolphins not so settled. All talking about who Dolphins lose but look at their team, still very good. Would not be surprised.
Can’t pick Sharks with utmost confidence, Bunnies will be desperate.
No love for my Dragoons??? Surely an even chance against the Tigers.
This round will trip a few up.

Yeah, but if Cleary went to market he’d be offered that and more. Nobody in the NRL will be tossing $800K at Lomax.

NRL News: Sea Eagles show Schuster the door, Eels encounter 'market value' hitch in Lomax deal, Reynolds eyes early return

Yeah, but the key here is MARKET value. Lomaz is just not worth $800K. His market value is about $500-$600 K which is what Parra are offering.

NRL News: Sea Eagles show Schuster the door, Eels encounter 'market value' hitch in Lomax deal, Reynolds eyes early return

Correct. This rubbish was brought on by Gould having a dummy spit. Lomax has nothing for next year and he’s definitely not worth 800K$. Parra should be able to sign him for whatever he’ll take, $600/650$K as suggested. It’s Lomax who loses, nobody else.

He should be so lucky…

I don’t feel any sympathy for “I wanna win a comp’ Wighton..

too right. Lomax was ordinary last round, except the speculator backwards reverse quarterback pass with pike.

Eh?? Rava is in. And the whispers were that Lomax was going to get a shot at FB at the start of the year. If Flanno thought he would spark a reaction then he got the one he didn’t want.
