Kaino’s replacement is now being groomed – Liam Squire. Plus there’s Akira Ioane though I think they see him as an 8.

Being better All Blacks than the All Blacks - can it be done?

Every 10 years actually. Which makes it 2022 before the wheels are back on the chariot…

Being better All Blacks than the All Blacks - can it be done?

Ouch! PNG average download speed is 1.8 Mbps versus 38.4 Mbps for NZ. I’m surprised it’s that slow as PNG Telekom is a shareholder in the APNG-2 submarine fibre optic cable connecting Port Moresby to Sydney. Can’t you check into a hotel with a satellite dish to watch the All Blacks?

But on the Autumn International tours, your point is precisely the reason the NZRU are spearheading the SANZAR negotiations with the European Unions over revenue sharing, for all tours beyond 2019 (as tour schedules up to then are already set). The arrogant RFU Ian Richie has publicly said no, but we’ll see how far they go to get to No.1 in the world when they don’t play the No’s 1, 2 & 3 teams after this year’s AI tour, post-RWC2019.

As long as the SANZAAr group stick together, there should be some sharing of revenues on these outbound tours in November. The alternative is we can end up playing some RC Tests in North America to help grow the game in a massive market, and England may find themselves having to pay appearance money to the SANZAAr teams to play at Twickers..

The Wallabies could win a Grand Slam and angry fans might not see it

Nope, they never ask for any credit card details, nor is it paid. If you’ve given your CC number, better cancel the card because you’ve been scammed by one of the many pop-up scammers..

I’ve been watching through cricfree for over 4 years and have never had to register or pay. AdblockPlus nukes all the pop-ups. But even if a persistent one sneaks through, you simply disable Adblock plus, refresh the page, reactivate AdblockPlus, then go through and right-click on each pop-up and tell AdblockPlus to block it.

The Wallabies could win a Grand Slam and angry fans might not see it

1: If you have a PC or laptop at home, and you have a reliable broadband connection (VDSL or Fibre Optic, but ADLS2 will work provided you’re not too far from the exchange or cabinet), you can watch all PPV sports anywhere in the world. For rugby, click on this link http://cricfree.tv/rugby-live-streaming and you’re in business.

2: There will be pop-ups which will annoy the crap out of anyone, so before you go to the link, download and install Adblock_lus from this link https://adblockplus.org/, activate it and then click on the link to the streaming.

3: Depending on your TV at home, you may be able to stream the rugby through your home Wifi or through a HDMI cable.

4: For Spiros
If cricfree or vipbox are blocked into Australia, download and install Hola from http://hola.org/, and then you can spoof your location by entering any country as your location, and you’re in business. This will work on any geo-restricted website, including Rugby Pass.

I watch all my sports free on live streaming. I have a funky set-up at home with 3 29″ monitors and a 48″ LCD monitor on the wall which is better than any sky coverage.

I think Kaino will move to the second row and Liam Squire comes on at 6, with Luatua and Ardie Savea off the bench.

What to look for in November as the Wallabies head north

“not deserve to win”. is a modest concession for Irish ears. The reality is the All Blacks thoroughly deserved the win, if only in acknowledgement of their refusal to accept the scoreboard while the ball was still in play.

The Wrap; How to beat the All Blacks 101

You might have a better chance of convincing anyone of the mythical “waning” of SH rugby, by averaging out the World Rugby Ranking points of the 5 SH teams and 5 NH teams in the top-10.

October 2016
SH Average: 84.51
NH Average: 82.97

October 2015
SH Average: 83.7
NH Average: 82.08

looking at these stats, the SH have improved their WR Ranking points over 1 year by 1.14, while the NH have improved by only 0.89.

Yep, I can see where the SH Rugby performance is “waning”!! It’s a stupid baseless conclusion by the author.

Southern hemisphere dominance is starting to wane

Wallabies grand slam chances? Cheika says it's in their dreams

6 Nations matches only play up to the standard required to win, or minimise losing. Even the England-France final 6N match of 2014(??) where over 70 points were scored was the conspicuous exception because England were chasing a massive points differential, and the French contributed to the spirit of the game by forgetting how to defend- the resulting score is excluded from some statistics averaging England’s scores for and against.

The Wrap; How to beat the All Blacks 101

The All Blacks are always under the pump to perform, because every opponent they face lift themselves another 10+%. This year, Wales did it, SA did it in Dunedin, Argentina in Hamilton, Wallabies in Auckland. In RWC15, Tonga, Georgia, Namibia all raised their game because they were playing the All Blacks.

I doubt too many 6 Nations teams raise themselves to the same degree when playing one another – perhaps with the exception of Wales v England.

The Wrap; How to beat the All Blacks 101

Bottom line is, Geoff, the PRL Clubs only release the players because they get financially compensated under the new RFU Player Agreement with the PRL Clubs under which RFU compensates the clubs to the tune of £112 million over 4 years, with the second 4-year term worth more. The agreement increases the number of players in the Elite squad to 45 (up from 33), and 36 (up from 33) players during the internationals window/Autumn International. It also defines additional training sessions for the England squad outside of the AI window – viz, the recnt training sessions which injured a few of the first-choice players.

The RFU have no new “system” to “bring players through” because the Under-20 players are contracted by…the PRL Clubs. If what you claim about England’s “system” were true, why are there not many more of their previous Under-20 Championship winners from the last 4-5 years coming through? Winning the Under-20 Championship 4 out of 5 years has not translated to success for the England Senior teams.

I’m not discounting what England are doing at all. I just don’t see what you and others seem to be able to see about England’s “depth”. SA and Australia will beat England in November.

The Wrap; How to beat the All Blacks 101

“Is this the end of the Southern Hemisphere stranglehold? The next four weeks will be very revealing..”

Total nonsense. When South Africa and Australia have beaten England in their NH tours, they will move to 2nd and 3rd respectively in the rankings – back to the status quo.

I don’t get how everyone keeps harking back at England’s 3-0 win over a dysfunctional Wallabies as “proof” of England’s “improvements”! The Wallabies team who played the All Blacks in Bledisloe III is far removed from the team who lost to England who have 10 or so first-choice players out injured.

Southern hemisphere dominance is starting to wane

England will never ever get to enjoy the same top-to-bottom control of the game in England the way NZRU have in NZ – not as long as the Premier Clubs own the players and, to all intents and purposes, run Union in England. RFU best chance is to probably buy and own 3-4 Premier Clubs, and populate them with their own players, instead of being forced to rely on the clubs’ “goodwill” to release players.

The only NH Unions close to getting control of their game like NZRU are Ireland and Wales. But they also have parochial problems they need to resolve. NZRU have simply benefited from their professional management of the game in the amateur years. Rugby in NZ pre-1995 was generally recognised and described as an amateur game run by professionals, while league was a professional game run by amateurs.

Central contracting is one thing: total buy-in by the provinces and SR franchises (easy since NZRU owns them) to provision and support the All Blacks as the ultimate objective will ensure the All Blacks are one or two steps ahead of the competition.

The Wrap; How to beat the All Blacks 101

Actually Ben, as PeterK points out, England had an extra 3-4 weeks off after bombing out of their RWC2015.

Could Stephen Larkham replace Michael Cheika before the World Cup?

Could Stephen Larkham replace Michael Cheika before the World Cup?

Did Naivalu go on an international tour with the Wallabies?

Should we be confident or pessimistic about the Wallabies?

I don’t get this: if Taniela Tupou is NOT yet eligible to represent Australia, why is he even in the touring party? An international Rugby Union tour by a nation’s representative team must surely comprise of players eligible to represent the country – not players who will become eligible in the future.

In theory, Tupou can come back from the NH tour and choose to represent Tonga if he wanted to – and there’s nothing the ARU or World Rugby can do about it..

Should we be confident or pessimistic about the Wallabies?

What is it with you people blaming everyone else for your team’s failures? You sound like the poms who are always blaming the referees, the weather, the other team for scoring more points….

Own your mistakes and move on. You sound like your coach.

The referees are favouring the All Blacks

What a lot of whining: HP changed his line to impede Savea, something specifically prohibited. Which part of this don’t you comprehend???

A plea to Michael Cheika

Great piece Spiro: well done.
If the Wallabies maintain the same team commitment and hunger, they will go through their NH tour unbeaten. But they need to play every match as if they were playing to stop the All Blacks record run.

Great test match, and easily the best of the year.

Rogue Cheika tarnishes the Wallabies once again

Because they were all in the pubs..

Eight talking points: All Blacks vs Wallabies, third Bledisloe Cup Test

What can anyone say!!! Cheika’s performance at the press conference just confirmed what a lot of his critics have been criticising about him!. Blaming the All Blacks for what the media does is naive at the best of times. The simple reality is this was the best team Cheka has put on the paddock (with the exception of Genia) – if anyone should be criticised, it’s him for not playing this team earlier.

This was easily the toughest match for the All Blacks this year, and I feel even more confident now that the Wallabies will go through their NH tour undefeated.

Great Test match – pity about Cheika’s outburst!
