Australia find themselves in a position of dominance in Ahmedabad as Day 2 looms against India. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 3pm (AEDT).

After plenty of drama surrounding the first three Tests, things have calmed down in Ahmedabad. The final Test has become a game of chess, with both teams not wanting to give away too much on the opening day.

Usman Khawaja led the fight with the bat, with Steve Smith and Cameron Green showing great patience and support so far. The key for the Aussies is to cash in and get 450+ here. First innings runs are crucial on these placid wickets which will suddenly turn come day four.

India started poorly, but they did well to regroup after the first hour and keep the Australian scoring rate below three runs an over. Rohit Sharma will be hoping his bowlers start day two better and get some key breakthroughs to keep the Aussies with a first-innings total of 350 or less.

It was a great opening day for both teams in a tight contest thus far. The question is: who will break first with their patience being tested following a series filled with drama?
