The Manly Sea Eagles will be desperate to get their first NRL win of the season when they host the Canterbury Bulldogs at home. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 6:15pm AEDT.

It has been a challenging start to the season for the Sea Eagles, with losses to the Panthers and Roosters sending them to the bottom of the NRL ladder after a fortnight of play.

Both conquerors are quality teams and there is no shame in losses to them, yet coach Des Hasler will be determined to right the ship and snatch a victory today to get Manly’s season heading in the right direction.

2021 produced a similarly slow start and then the Sea Eagles storm into contention with some comprehensive point scoring that saw them become one of the most dangerous teams in the competition. During that run, one of their victims was Canterbury and embarrassingly so.

The Dogs enter Round 3 with a win against the Cowboys and a tight loss against the Broncos. Statistically there has been much improvement and the blue and whites were dominant in most areas against Brisbane last week. However, there does still appear to be a clunky side to their attack and the challenge of finding points in the red zone after all the hard work is done to apply defensive pressure on teams remains.

Solving that issue completely could take some time, yet coach Trent Barrett will hope that things will click more quickly than some expect and that today is the day that the new breed of Bulldogs bare their teeth and prove to their fans that this is indeed a new dawn for the club.

Prediction
Neither side has been particularly convincing thus far, yet there could be boilover of the cards today, with the Canterbury pack potentially able to get over the top of their Sea Eagles opponents. Dogs by 4.
