Show Preview

New Zealand will look to sew up a spot in the Rugby League World Cup quarter-finals this morning when they take on Jamaica at MKM Stadium in Hull. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 5:30am (AEDT).

With a squad brimming with talent, New Zealand are seen as favourites for this World Cup by a number of media pundits. However, they didn’t have it all their own way against a plucky Lebanon side last weekend.

Lebanon actually scored first through Josh Mansour, before Kenny Bromwich, Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Pita Hiku scored tries to put the Kiwis up 18-6 at the break.

The second half was the Joey Manu show, first setting up Dylan Brown after a break down field and then scoring one of the best solo tries that you could hope to see.

The 34-12 end result was a fair reflection of the game.

They take on a Jamaica team that was beaten 48-2 by Ireland. The Reggae Warriors, new to the World Cup, were not short on effort but were thoroughly outclassed by the Wolfhounds, with Luke Keary outstanding for Ireland.

For Jamaica, just being in the World Cup is an achievement in itself. If they can score a try against New Zealand, they will consider themselves the winners.

This one could get a bit ugly.

Jamaica will be putting it all on the line but the Kiwis are on another level.

New Zealand to win by 70.
