The St George-Illawarra Dragons and Penrith Panthers do battle in Round 2 NRL action at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 6pm (AEDT).

Two teams off the back of excellent Round 1 wins face off in the first of the Friday NRL matches, with both seeking a perfect start to their 2022 campaigns. The Dragons come into this clash off the back of a win against the Warriors and the Panthers demolished the Sea Eagles on the opening night of the season.

Logic suggests the Panthers will have too many weapons for the Dragons to cope with successfully, yet early season form is always difficult to gauge. The Panthers dusted up the Sea Eagles with ease, showing all of the skills and attributes of 2021 on their way to a 22 point victory. The Dragons were forced to battle hard against the Warriors yet looked an improved version of themselves when compared to 2021.

Team news has Aaron Woods out with injury for the Dragons and George Burgess in for his debut in the red and white, whilst Spencer Leniu comes in for an injured Moses Leota for the mountain men.

A dominant win for the Panthers will be the likely prediction from many, yet did the Dragons’ form in Round 1 earn them any serious respect heading into this clash against the reigning champs?

Prediction
The Dragons are an improved side, there is no doubt about that, yet can they match it against the competition standard? It is doubtful and Penrith should win this game by 14 points.
