Day two and despite the frosty weather the all clear has been given to go ahead. Here’s a preview of the three big races:

Neptune Hurdle:

This novice hurdle run over a distance of 2m 5f looks a strong renewal this year.

After Willie Mullins three timer yesterday he has a strong contender here in Pont Alexandre. He’s undefeated after three starts winning by distances of 11, 13, and 5 lengths.

His opposition includes the similarly undefeated Chatterbox who has previously defeated the highly rated (although he came second yesterday) My Tent Or Yours.

Others to consider include The New One, his trainer Nigel Twiston Davies is very sweet on him and Taquin de Seuil.

Although it’s tempting to stick with the in form trainer Willie Mullins and Pont Alexandre I fancy The New One.

RSA Chase:

This is a novice chase over three miles. The Paul Nichols trained Unioniste was impressive in a 2m5f handicap here last December, he looks the one to beat.

Testing him will be that man again Willie Mullins who sends out Boston Bob, he looks suited to this marathon for novices.

The Queen Mother Champion Chase:

Run over two miles at lightening speed (relatively lightening for Jumps racing) this is historically a competitive race. Not this year though with the seemingly untouchable Sprinter Sacre, dubbed the Frankel of National Hunt, set for greatness.

For the record if the ground turns up soft I believe previous winner Sizing Europe will make a race of it.
