The final stage of the inaugural Adelaide Tour proved successful for the home team Euride, with George Tansley taking out the yellow jersey.

Euride used their local advantage to take a hold on the race after the team time trial on day one, and the boys never took their eyes off the prize, guarding their lead.

In the final stage, an 82 kilomtere kermesse through Newtown, the South Australian team covered every move from the bunch.

Speaking on the NRS website, Tansley said, “We are a new team and to come out and win only the third tour we’ve raced in, especially in our home town as well is amazing.

“We did a lot of recon for this course because we knew this was our best opportunity to win a tour this year, but we had a lot of pressure on our shoulders but everyone really lifted to the occasion.”

The stage was won by Neil Van der Ploeg of Search2Retain, with Scott Law (GPM) in second and Jack Beckinsale from Huon Genesys in third.

“That was the first time all five of the boys in the team did a big turn on the last lap and at the end my run was timed to perfection,” Van der Ploeg said.

“Scott has pipped me a few times this year, I caught a glimpse of his right at the end when I knew I had it so that was a relief.”
