Next month will mark the end of another wonderful career of sporting excellence, that of Indian cricket god Sachin Tendulkar.

Aside from the mountains of runs and his importance to the Indian cricket team, one of his greatest strengths has been his longevity.

His international career started in Nov 1989, the same month in which we first witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall and commercial use of the internet.

His career has been long enough to witness seven different Indian Prime Ministers, three US Presidents, six Summer Olympics and six FIFA World Cups.

In total, he will represented his beloved nation 664 times, all without any mention of scandal or corruption.

We will be missed by millions of followers throughout the world and by the generations which grow up watching and idolising him.

His career should be ranked among the greatest sportsmen the world has known, and he will keep his god-like status in India, a nation of over one billion people.

Sachin, thanks for the journey and memories.
