The 2014 Giro d’Italia is hotting up, with the race is looking poised for a battle between race leader Rigoberto Uran and the predators circling around his maglia rosa. Join us for all the Stage 15 action and analysis from 11pm AEST.

Yesterday saw Uran dropped, but he only lost five seconds to Evans. And despite losing around 30 seconds to Nairo Quintana, the diminutive Tour de France runner-up is still over three minutes down.

The mountains continue today, with the race travelling a mammoth 225 kilometres from Valdengo to Plan de Montecampione.

The stage is flat all the way to the base of the final climb, which is a leg-breaking 20 kilometres in length.

Hopefully the peloton won’t suffer a repeat of Stage 6, where a flat stage with a climb at the conclusion caused a huge crash which took out Joaquim Rodriguez and Janez Brajkovic, among others.

Should the peloton get through the flat section of the race unscathed, it will be a showdown between the pure climbers of this year’s Giro.

Rafal Majka is in the white jersey of best young rider and has been impressive, but now that he is recovered it’s hard to go past Nairo Quintana for this stage.

Quintana is looking to take back time, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a chunk of it taken back by the end of the day with the third rest day approaching.
