With the Sha Tin to be run later today, here’s The Roar’s look at what we should expect from racing in Hong Kong today.

Weather: It will be dry. Mainly cloudy at first. Sunny periods during the day with a maximum temperature of about 31 degrees. Moderate northerly winds, occasionally fresh offshore and on high ground. (Hong Kong Observatory)

Turf: Good (“B+2” Course)

Yan Chai Trophy
Race 3, No. 1 Brilliant Dream
This horse showed plenty of ability in three starts last preparation. It has been given a quiet trial ahead of this and looks set to make a winning return.

95-75 Class Two Handicap
Race 7, No. 3 Teofilo Calva
Looks to be a race in two between Teofilo Calva and Key Witness. Drawn well, the former will sit in the box seat and looks hard to beat.

Kwangtung Handicap Cup
Race 8, No. 9 Mr Gnocchi
Mr Gniocchi gave a good account of himself in the Derby campaign last season and now returns to distance where he has won four times. I rate him highly.

80-60 Class Three Handicap
Race 9, No. 9 World City
World City scored a convincing win when it returned to the turf last outing and appears to have turned a corner. Stick with him.

80-60 Class Three Handicap
Race 10, No. 1 Full Talent
Took all before him last preparation bar Teofilo Calva and has enough speed to overcome the wide alley. Going places.
