Match preview:

The San Antonio Spurs will look to continue their pursuit of the top seed in the Western Conference when they play the inexplicably struggling Oklahoma City Thunder at the AT&T Center, in what would have been expected to be a cracking match but may well be one-sided.

Given the way the Thunder moved through the first half of the season, it is hard to understand exactly why they have suffered their dramatic fall from grace. Despite the fact Oklahoma have won their last two matches, they had lost six of their last seven before that and their form had fallen off the charts.

It seemed the Thunder had the tendency to start games strongly, particularly on the defensive end before fading. There are no better examples of this than matches against the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers. In the match against the Warriors the Thunder held a double digit lead at the half time break before falling in overtime.

The loss against the Clippers though will be the most concerning of the lot. They would take a 21-point lead into the final quarter, before finding a way to lose the game by five. A 26-point turn around in the final quarter – something that simply shouldn’t be happening.

The Spurs meanwhile, are only one of two teams who have qualified for the post-season, the other being the Golden State Warriors. With a record of 55 wins and 10 losses, the Spurs are only 3.5 games behind and with some very strong recent form are staying right in the shadows.

In fact, San Antonio have managed to win 10 of their last 11 games, which included a strong win over the Chicago Bulls at home in their last match.

A shock loss to the Indiana Pacers a few days ago seems all but a distant memory now for the Spurs, who have quickly got back into their winning ways.

The biggest battle of the game, without a doubt is the Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant match-up. Both are prolific scorers, and with Durant not being in the greatest form it is important for a turn around.

The teams have only met once this year, with the Thunder winning that one at home by six points.

Prediction
The Spurs should get the job done here – The Thunder just keep on finding ways to lose after strong starts. Expect Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker to have massive games.
