It was reported yesterday that Samoa Joe, real name Nuufolau Joel Seanoa, could possibly be injured.

He appeared at Thursday’s NXT Live event telling the crowd he wasn’t cleared to compete just before the main event, watching the match from ringside for the rest of the show. Joe worked the steel cage match on December 8 and then worked on December 10 in Newcastle, the main event of said show was current NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura, Tye Dillinger and Buddy Murphy teaming against Joe, Bobby Roode and Elias Samson, with Joe and Nakamura reportedly not doing much in the match.

Joe then worked the December 12th in Gold Coast NXT Live event in another six-man tag match between Nakamura and TM-61 taking on Joe and The Revival, with TM-61 and The Revival working most of the match with Dillinger and Roode getting involved as well, but Joe not doing much at all.

Joe’s last worked match was on December 13 in Sydney. The match was originally booked to be a fatal-four-way match between Nakamura, Joe, Roode and Dillinger but was changed on the night to a six-man tag with Nakamura and Dillinger teaming with Murphy, and Joe and Roode teaming with Samson. The match was filled with stalling and little high action spots through the match. The initial change left the crowd angry as they booed through the announcement. Nakamura’s team went on to win the match while having to deal with fans hijacking it, showing their displeasure.

Although there has been no word from Joe or WWE officials, if he is injured, this could derail the rumoured main event push Joe was set to take on with a debut at the Royal Rumble and move into the main event picture, although the brand was not known.

This possible injury comes just four months after getting injured at NXT Takeover Brooklyn II back in August when Joe had his jaw broken by Nakamura, if this is the case and Joe is injured, his long speculated Royal Rumble debut may be left in the air, or given to another NXT fans would want to see work on the main roster.
