Blacktype racing returns to the Gold Coast this Saturday for Goldmarket Day while a nine-race program has been assembled for Morphettville Parks.

Here are my five suggested plays across the two programs.

Each Way – Gold Coast Race Three Number 6 Lay Down The Law
Track drying out is a concern, but I’m hoping there is still some give in it. David Pfieffer trains this ten-year-old, who is racing really well at the moment despite his age.

He ran over 1250m at Canterbury last time out and I thought he stuck on really well in defeat behind Catesby. He is a swimmer so any give in the track is ideal and up to 1300m on the big track is a tick.

Win – Gold Coast Race Six Number 9 Plumaro
Looks like the good thing on the Gold Coast program. Kevin Kemp has a really good two year old on his hands here.

Her win a fortnight back over 1200m at Doomben was outstanding because she spotted them an impossible start but once she put her mind to it and got clear air, gee she put them away and won well. Gold Coast 1200m looks perfect.

Win – Gold Coast Race Eight Number 7 Pelethronius
If the track remains wet, I’m all over him. 1550 back to 1200 isn’t ideal but with a likely wet track, he should take some beating. He ran over the 1550m at Canterbury last time out and he wasn’t given much hope by the ride, sitting wide throughout when fifth to Quick Defence.

A hard 1200m on the rain-affected ground will suit.

Win – Morphettville Parks Race Two Number 6 Coppergate
Hasn’t raced for a while, but he looks to have the ability to put this lot away. He is the son of Helmet that resumes for the Tony McEvoy team. This bloke kicked off his career just over 12 months ago, debuting with a second to Jukebox before finishing down the track at Sandown behind Eshtiraak.

Been give a really good break and has trialled up enormous for his resumption.

Win – Morphettville Parks Race Nine Number 5 Despatch
Looks a great get out bet. This bloke hasn’t raced since the 2016 Phelan Ready at Doomben in December of that year, so he has been off the scene a fair while, but his two trials leading in have been fantastic, the first of which coming in late January before being freshened up and bolting up last week at Gawler.

He looks ready to go. Wouldn’t be shocked if he started red figures.
