A strong card of racing has been assembled at Ascot for Good Friday, one of only two race meetings in Australia. Here is my quaddie preview for the meeting, which is on races 6-9.

Leg One
Got a $1.30 favourite here in Driftstar but I don’t think he’s a moral so I’ll want to include a few others. Platoon is still a maiden but has really good form around him and did trial up well recently.

King Of Planets and Chix Pic clashed last time with the latter getting the win. I think they can both measure up in what looks a potentially tricky affair.

Leg Two
Very tempted to go one out with Assetro but I’ll cover myself. Agent Pippa was considered good enough to go to Melbourne for Cup Week.

Just overdid it on speed first up. If she relaxes, she can go close. Nocelle is two for two and has trialled up well while Princess Pierro will be strong late if there is a decent tempo.

Leg Three
American Joy is one of these Team Williams fillies who could be on the Oaks path but would need to win here to go there. I think she can.

Young Thor stepped up in trip last time over the Bunbury mile and was rewarded with a win. Perceptive Miss did a really good job last time in the Thousand Guineas.

Lucky Escape is a maiden but is racing quite well. Send My Love is a key threat.

Leg Four
Happy to go one out here with Magical Charm, who has a near identical profile to American Joy. Needs to win to warrant going to the Oaks and I think she can here. Should get a lovely run off the pace from the inside gate, Pike on…she’ll do me fine against this lot. Think she’s also the best bet on the card so give it strength.
