The Warrnambool Carnival concludes on Thursday where we will see the running of the Warrnambool Cup along with the Grand Annual. Here are my five suggested plays across the meeting.

Bet One – Win – Race One Number 5 Self Sense:
One of a couple of good things on the card. Won like a star at his jumps debut two back at Pakenham before returning to the flat in the Gold Heath at Caulfield where Nolen gave him the perfect ride and he produced best to get the win. Back over the jumps now, normal luck and he should be beating this lot.

Bet Two – Each-Way – Race Three Number 1 Written Era:
There is a question mark on how well she is going, but we will know for sure against this lot. She has been a flop this time in but in saying that she has taken on some nice races and nice types.

Last time she produced a decent run, she was four lengths off subsequent multiple stakes winner Quilista. That reads very for this I would have thought.

Bet Three – Win – Race Four Number 3 Hang Man:
Keen on this progressive stayer for Michael Moroney. Comes here off the back of an absolute spank job at the Bool when winning by an ever-widening five lengths. Admittedly, running away from Sunquest isn’t a tough ask, but you have to trust what you see and he looks very likeable.

Bet Four – Win – Race Nine Number 3 Kiwia:
Normal luck and he should be winning. It was a nightmare watch in the Gold Heath at Caulfield. Victim of circumstances was Rawiller on the four-year-old.

Just got into a nasty spot and fellow riders made sure he stayed there. Up to 2400m looks perfect and he did bolt up in his lone run here. Very keen on this bloke. Just needs clear and he’ll be winning.

Bet Five – Win – Race Ten Number 6 Fifty Stars:
Darren Weir to end the Carnival with a very promising type. This Sea The Stars colt hasn’t raced since scoring a fab debut win over 1200m here back on March 29 when showing an electric turn of foot under Brad Rawiller to win, beating Seized, who has franked the form.

1300m no issue, been kept on ice for this…it’ll take a good one to beat him.
