There are three race meetings set down on Monday, with my main focus being at Tamworth where there are a couple of good things. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One: Win, Wagga Race Four, Number 5 Everly Girl
The bet of the day for mine. Mel Harrison has this mare going really well at the moment and though the she can still be a touch quirky at times, she finds a very thin race. Good run last Saturday at Newcastle behind Nahuel and Diamond Star Halo, both of which ran okay at Randwick. That reads very well and she does meet Thunder Road 3kg better for that defeat at Kembla. She has more to give.

Bet: $40 win at $2.90 (Crownbet)

Bet Two: Win, Tamworth Race Two, Number 8 Keeva
There’s a couple at Tamworth that are facing their D-Day, starting with Keeva. Hard in the market when resuming over the 1000m but for mine probably did a bit too much work on speed and felt the pinch at the end when running second. Should get a lovely run in transit this time around. Josh Adams has butchered a couple over the past couple of days, but he gets a chance to redeem himself here.

Bet: $50 win at $2.10 (Crownbet)

Bet Three; Win, Tamworth Race Four, Number 11 Marfaz
Marfaz is the best horse in this race by a fair distance. Just all depends where he gets to in the run because the map says Little Al will get a soft lead and at Tamworth, a soft lead usually equals a win.

Just hoping Adams can take advantage of the inside gate and sit either box seat or three back, because his form reads better than this lot. Hopefully he doesn’t give away too much head start.

Bet: $30 win at $3.50 (Crownbet)

Bet Four: Each way, Tamworth Race Five, Number 2 Cricklewood
Why is he $11? Cricklewood’s two runs back from a break have been excellent, both of which have been unsuitable for him and with due respect to Sophia Fletcher, she doesn’t have the upper body strength at the moment to steer them around whereas Louise Day certainly can. Been getting a mile back, but like Marfaz, if he can sit closer from the draw, I think he only runs well and goes close.

Bet: $20 each way at $11/$3.40 (Crownbet)

Bet Five: Win, Mildura Race Four, Number 1 Abraded
Yendall has to overcome the wide gate and this bloke will be too good. Resumes as a gelding for the Weir camp after debuting over 1200m last year here at Mildura where he worked home behind stablemate Pique, who is above average, so that form reads well. Given a good hitout to win a Warracknabeal trial last week and the time was quicker than the open class horses, which had Bondeiger and Annaman in the field. He should be too good for them here.

Bet: $40 Win at $2.60 (Crownbet)

Total Spend: $200
