The Winter Stakes 1400 metres highlights racing at Rosehill this Saturday, while the two-mile Queens Cup is the feature on the Sunshine Coast. Here are my five plays across the two meetings.

Bet 1: Win – Rosehill Race 6, number four: Al Galayel
It doesn’t look to be the strongest two-year-old race going around, and this WaterBott youngster on debut looks well placed. He didn’t do much in his first trial back in February, so he was tipped out, and he trialled very nicely a couple of weeks back at Randwick when bolting up under Clark, who remains on. Odds of $1.95 is okay for a race with little depth.

Bet 2: Win – Rosehill Race 8, number 13: Albumin:
An ounce of natural improvement from the resumption and she should be too good. She was nominated for Grafton, accepted ad scratched at Warwick Farm and runs here, and gee she finds a winnable race. She resumed at Randwick and didn’t have the best of luck in the straight behind High Mist on the bog. She has a great record at this track and distance and likely holds the box seat behind Spencer.

Bet 3: Each-way – Sunshine Coast Race 1, number two: Privlaka
He’s short but should be putting this field away and is likely to be a multi-anchor for most punters. He has had an outstanding prep for Rob Heathcoate this carnival but is yet to greet the judge. He gets his chance here. He comes through the Glasshouse where he worked home well from the back but was clearly no match for the low-flying Jamaican Rain. It’s considerably easier here, and with the three-kilogram claim for Boris, he’ll do me in the opener.

Bet 4: Win – Sunshine Coast Race 3, number four: Tumbler
She’s similar to Privlaka: short in the market but looks so well placed. They’ve tried to stretch her out to 1200 to 1350 in stronger races but I think her best chance of winning races is fast run 1000-metre races. She looked to have her chance last time out in the Healy but was beaten by a beauty in Spright. There’s no horse of that class here and back to 1000 metres at the Sunny Coast looks ideal. She looks well placed to win.

Bet 5: Win – Sunshine Coast Race 4, number five: Zoustyle
Trust the eye with the debut win. He trialled up enormous at Eagle Farm and then produced it on debut at Doomben, leading throughout to win by five lengths. He was visually outstanding. Did the clock back it up? Yes. His time was around 6.5L quicker than the other 1110 metres on the same day. Good enough for me. Black figures is okay.
