Looks to be a couple of solid meetings on the cards this Sunday, hopefully a few winners to be had. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One- Win- Wyong Race One Number 4 Starvino
I find him a fascinating runner. Kim Waugh trains this gelding, who resumes after a near 40-week break, where he last raced over the mile at Newcastle when third to Greenspan. Looked to be wound right up in a Gosford trial, winning by six but was pushed out.

Looks as if he’ll lead for fun. The one to beat and one of the best of the day.

Bet: $50 Win at $2.2 (BetEasy)

Bet Two- Win- Wyong Race Five Number 1 Coppergate
If he’s right, I think he wins. Formerly with Tony McEvoy but is now with Clare Cunningham. Showed really good promise when trained by McEvoy but couldn’t deliver on race day.

Returns as a gelding and has been tuned up with a couple of lovely trials to my eye. Blinkers off, inside gate, Collett on, he’ll do me.

Bet: $30 Win at $3.3 (BetEasy)

Bet Three- Win- Port Macquarie Race One Number 9 Think Free
I think this is similar to Frankely Awesome. Getting overs for a horse who should be around $1.30-$1.40. This girl should bolt in.

Arguably should have won on debut at Taree when unlucky in the straight before going to Tamworth where she beat all bar Herzegovina, but she spanked the rest.

Up to the 1500m looks ideal, has more upside than most…just wins.

Bet: $100 Win at $2.1 (Bet365)

Bet Four- Win- Ballarat Race Two Number 11 Wild Planet
Brutal is not going to the Guineas but do Team Hawkes and Rupert Leigh have another candidate on their hands here?

That’s the whisper going around that he’s pretty good. Returns as a gelding, fresh at 1400m tells me there’s intent to run well first up, and that certainly appears to be the case off a recent jump out. Pretty keen on him.

Bet: $40 Win at $3 (Bet365)

Bet Five- Each Way- Ballarat Race Seven Number 6 Mihany
Getting on in years but I reckon he can run a bold race at odds here. He is just over two weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Moonee Valley where he was outclassed behind Moss ‘N’ Dale but far from disgraced.

This looks his right level and the speed map says he should lead for fun and give a great sight in front.

Bet: $10 E/W at $12/$3.25 (Bet365)

Total Spend: $240
