Some really good racing has been assembled on Wednesday, with metro meetings at Rosehill and Flemington the key focus. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One: Each Way – Rosehill Race 3, number 10: Union Dues
I’m a huge fan of Girl Tuesday, but 1600-1500, gate ten, I have to take her on and go with this girl. Was really keen on her two back at Sandown but was wide no cover throughout before going to Bendigo where she got back and worked home strongly late behind Merchant Of Venice. Stack of gear changes, most of it off, so hopefully she’s genuine and should get every chance from gate one.

Bet: $15 Win/$35 Place at $6.50/$2.05 (BetEasy)

Bet Two: Each Way – Flemington Race 5, number 14: Runsati
Straight track racing – anything goes really. I’m happy to have something each way on this bloke, who resumes for Bryan Maher. Proven city horse when at his best so it’ll be interesting to see what he does here fresh. He hasn’t raced since mid-May when not handling the bob behind Artie Dee Two.

Better on top of the ground, can sprint well fresh, claim for Hope helps, draws the right part of the track – he’s worth an each way ticket.

Bet: $10 E/W (Tote)

Bet Three: Win – Flemington Race 6, number 9: Oregon Dreamer
I like this filly, I like her a lot. Don’t think she beat much when winning the maiden last time at Kilmore over the 1450m, but she absolutely spanked them and won like a good horse. Olly jumping on looks a good lead for mine and she should have no issue with the 1800m. I think at around the $6-$6.50 mark she’s a good gamble.

Bet: $20 Win at $6 (Sportsbet)

Bet Four: Win – Ipswich Race 1, number 5: Jami Lady
Happy to be with Jami Lady, a daughter of Spirit Of Boom for Steve O’Dea. She was well backed when debuting over 1000m at the Sunny Coast and despite sitting wide no cover on speed, she proved far too good for her rivals and was most impressive, running really good time relative to the day. Confident she gets the job done.

Bet: $50 Win at $2.25 (Neds)

Bet Five: Win – Gawler Race 3, number 6: Magic Sunset
Magic Sunset looks a good filly for Tony McEvoy, who had trialled up enormous prior to debuting over 1050m a few weeks ago. She had a reasonable run there near the tempo and presented to win the race when asked by Jamie Kah – but just couldn’t quite get the job done. She wanted to do a couple of things wrong in the straight when third to Mazestic.

Should take good improvement from that and looks the winner.

Bet: $50 Win (Tote)
