The Melbourne Storm will head into the 2018 NRL grand final as favourites to go back-to-back when they take on the Sydney Roosters at Homebush.

The Storm, who beat the Cowboys in last year’s grand final and were also in the 2016 grand final, have shortened to just $1.70 to win the competition.

It comes on the back of Billy Slater being cleared to play by the judiciary and Cooper Cronk’s shoulder being less than certain.

The minor premier Roosters are built on defence, but will still struggle without Cronk, and it’s reflecting in their odds which have gone out to $2.20.

Margin betting
While the Storm are short-priced favourites, there isn’t a lot in it. The Storm to win by 1-12 points is currently paying $2.80, while a 13+ win for the men from Victoria is paying $4.

Unsurprisingly, there is little difference to the Roosters, who are paying $3.25 for a win by 12 points or less.

The outlier amongs the odds is the Roosters having a big win, with odds for a 13+ tri-colours victory blowing out to $6.75.
