Several programs have been assembled for Sunday, with the main meeting being Bairnsdale where it is Cup Day. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One – Win – Coonamble Race Three Number 2 Brotherly Secret
I think the market is underestimating him and I’m a bit surprised. I thought his win last time at Tamworth was full of merit.

Lumped the big weight with Louise Day steering and he was there to be run down late but he clung on. Like Josh Oliver on. He’s a strong rider who can stand over one and get it home. Hoping that’s the case here.

Bet: $30 Win at $5.5 (Sportsbet)

Bet Two – Win – Bairnsdale Race Five Number 3 Toy Boy
Gee, I thought he’d be much shorter. He looks a good thing to my eye and trialled up really well prior to resuming at Mornington where he got back and wide but worked home quite strongly late behind Moonlover. Good second up record and Nikita rides the gelding very well.

I’m quite keen on his chances.

Bet: $80 Win at $2.8 (BetEasy)

Bet Three- Win- Bairnsdale Race Seven Number 1 Holy Snow
Just has to run somewhere near his best and he’ll be beating this field up surely. He’s a Group l performer who did run second last in the Sir Rupert Clarke but was far from disgraced behind Jungle Cat.

He has a very good third up record and the mile, though a query, looks ideal at this level. He ran a narrow third with 59kg in the Autumn so the weight no issue.

Bet: $70 Win at $3 (Sportsbet)

Bet Four- Win- Gawler Race Three Number 1 Double Pockets
He’s hit and miss when it comes to jumping, but if he behaves himself and doesn’t spot them too big of a start, he’s just better than these. Got the superior form lines and is a proven city performer and really, this is the easiest race he has contested for a couple of years.

Given his barrier manners, the $2.80 seems a risk, but if he jumps clean enough, he’s an odds-on pop.

Bet: $50 Win at $2.6 (Sportsbet)

Bet Five – Win – Gawler Race Six Number 2 Kodakhan
This looks a perfect race for him. I loved his resumption behind With Hope, closing off with real purpose, before racing a touch flat second up behind More Than Exceed.

That race has produced three winners, so the form reads well and he does seem to be quite a good horse on the fresh side. Looks a great bet.
