Racing in Queensland finally is back on Saturday at Doomben.

Morphettville will host a strong nine-race card while racing in Perth returns to Ascot for their spring/summer carnival. Here are my five plays across the three meetings.

Bet One – Each Way – Doomben Race Five Number 3 Dream Finnish
I think she’s worth an each way bet at the double figures. This mare comes through the Niccanova race from a fortnight back and while he was well held, she was far from disgraced.

She has the upside with her, a good gate and the wet track is no issue. I think each way, you can’t go wrong backing her.

Bet Two – Win – Doomben Race Seven Number 1 Freddie Fox Trot
He’s a beauty. He ran over 1200m on his home track at the Gold Coast last time where he started Winx odds and won accordingly. Back to city grade now, he can continue his winning ways despite coming back in trip.

$4.40 at the time of writing this appeals, but you could get $5+ on Saturday.

Bet Three – Win – Doomben Race Nine Number 9 Jami Lady
I like her. I like her a lot. I’ve been on her in both career outings and she has done some good things for me and for those who have followed, most notably last time at Ipswich where she opened $3+ before starting $1.45 and bolting up in what was a 400m dash to the line.

I’ll trust what I’ve seen.

Bet Four – Win – Morphettville Race Seven Number 4 Columbia
Made him the best bet across Australia for Saturday and the $4 looks very good. Will Clarken has him flying. Most unlucky in the first run for the new stable four weeks back behind Fill The Flute after getting badly held up in the straight.

He’s been freshened up and his trial last Thursday was outstanding. Solid 1200m tempo, he’ll get back and launch. I’m really keen on his chances and I think only bad luck beats him.

Bet Five – Win – Ascot Race Two Number 4 True Attraction
Some very promising gallopers step out at Ascot on Saturday, including this bloke. Team Williams have a sharp three-year-old on their hands here and he looks the one to beat. Ran at Belmont last Wednesday where he was back and held up before eventually getting clear and savaging the line to just miss out.

Drawn to get clear air and up to 1500m suits. I think the $2.20-$2.30 is overs. Should be odds-on.
