A stack of racing has been assembled for Friday, with Murray Bridge Cup Day being a highlight for the day. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One – Win – Murray Bridge Race Two Number 6 Quaffany
Quaffany is a Tony McEvoy trained gelding who has had two career outings.

Solid enough on debut on the Geelong Synthetic debut behind A Fighting Fury before going to Balaklava where he tried to wear down Galahad Guru but that horse has had too much late. Should have no trouble with the trip and looks the winner but $1.50 is very short.

Take the tote and should get better.

Bet: $70 Win (Tote)

Bet Two – Win – Murray Bridge Race Six Number 1 Eclair Choice
He’s the best horse in the race by a mile but the market will tell you if he’s a winning chance.

Comes back to the Stokes team after a stint in Singapore where he managed just the one placing from 13 outings.

The two trials leading up to the resumption have been quite good to the eye, he draws a soft gate and has class/quality.

Bet: $30 Win (Tote)

Bet Three – Win – Warrnambool Race One Number 7 Magnum Opus
Been on his back every start and yes, he’s becoming costly, but surely, surely he puts this field away?

Just wanted to pull a fraction last time at Swan Hill and that probably took the edge off him late when second to Mr Grizzle.

He’s doing a bit wrong but I’m convinced he’s the best horse in the race. Happy to be with him.

Bet: $50 Win (Tote)

Bet Four – Win – Pakenham Race Two Number 12 Persuader
She’s got the raced brigade well and truly covered. Just depends how good the first starters.

But I think she’s the one to beat off the back of a very gutsy effort at the Valley last time out when wide no cover for the trip yet fighting on strongly to run a close up fourth.

Gets every chance from gate one and she should be ready.

Bet: $50 Win (Tote)

Bet Five – Each Way – Pakenham Race Eight Number 5 Wassergeist
Wassergeist could easily win this without surprising. The Busuttin/Young team trains this four-year-old.

Was really keen on him when he resumed at Mornington on Grand Final Day but he just had no luck in the straight.

He needs clear air to wind into his work and hopefully that can eventuate.

Bet: $25 E/W (Tote)

Total Spend: $250
