The final race of Melbourne Cup day has seen $20 outsider Cool Passion take victory, storming home to beat Princess Posh and Savatiano in The Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes.

The field was immediately stretched out in the final race of the day, with Our Crown Mistress hitting the front early on ahead of Cool Passion who was half a length behind around the bend, but caught two wide.

The field compressed through 800 metres to go though and it was all wide open for the entire field with 400 metres to go as things compressed.

Cool Passion managed to shoot up the middle, timing the final run with absolute perfection to go past Princess Posh who looked to have it all sewn up at one point.
