There looks to be really good racing across the board on Wednesday, with the main meeting being at Sandown.

Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One – Each Way – Newcastle Race Six Number 1 Keep Up
I think anything over $2 is more than acceptable. Clare Cunningham train this stayer, who ran last week at Hawkesbury in what appeared to be a much stronger race and proved far too good for them, attacking the line late.

2300m here on the back up looks ideal and outside Dylan’s Romance, these are country stayers.

Bet: $50 Win at $2.1 (Bet365)

Bet Two – Each Way – Sandown Race Three Number 6 Zoubo
Zoubo is a Mick Price-trained filly who lacks the class of some of these I think but you had to be impressed by her win on debut at Mornington. She was held up a bit nearer the inside when full of running but once she got the gap, she dashed and was sharp.

Off that outing, she should have no trouble running well against this lot.

Bet: $15 Win at $8.5 (BetEasy), $25 Place (Tote)

Bet Three – Win – Sandown Race Seven Number 2 Friar Fox
Best of the day for mine. Darren Weir trains this former Perth mare, who finally gets out to a staying trip on a big track. Last two runs have been excellent, the latest over 2040m off a moderate tempo, she closed off strongly to run second to Snipfit.

This looks a perfect race for her and should be winning.

Bet: $200 Win at $2.5 (BetEasy)

Bet Four – Win – Ipswich Race Two Number 4 Bright Idea
Bright Idea is a daughter of Smart Missile for Tony Gollan who was sharp in winning at Ipswich two back before racing at Doomben where I thought she had her chance but was far from disgraced when a close up fourth to Desert Man. That was her first run in a month, so she should have upside.

Bet: $50 Win (Tote)

Bet Five – Each Way – Ipswich Race Five Number 4 Stellarcraft
He’s a beauty this bloke and I think he can only run well against this lot. Ran over the 1050m on Cup Day at Doomben and was just a bit too keen in the run when a tiring fifth to Takes Time. Fast run 800m, he’ll sit off the brutal speed and likely have the last look provided he gets clear air from the inside gate.

Bet: $25 E/W (Tote)
