Plenty of racing has been set down for Friday, and hopefully there are a few winners to be found. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet 1: Win – Hawkesbury Race 3, number three: Hostwin Saturn
He’s not the strongest of maidens going around so I’ll side with the first starter for Gary Moore. He trialled last week at Canterbury and went very well, winning in good time relative to the morning. Blinkers on for the debut tells me there is intent, and from the trial, he showed gate speed, so he should be near the front and proving hard to beat.

Bet: $30 win at $4.50 (Sportsbet)

Bet 2: Win – Hawkesbury Race 6, number seven: Commentator
Dual acceptor, but I am hoping he runs here because I made him the best of the day. He looks a moral against this lot. He ran in a 2000-metre three-year-old race last Wednesday and just didn’t have the turn of foot to win, but he was sound late when beaten narrowly. The depth here isn’t as strong, the extra trip suits, he has upside – he should be winning.

Bet: $100 win at $2.50 (BetEasy)

Bet 3: Win – Sunshine Coast Race 1, number 13: Ocean Addict
This should be straightforward run. She’ll be winning barring bad luck. Toby Edmonds trains this daughter of Ocean Park, who debuted over 1300 metres here around a month ago and was a clear eye-catcher, working home with real purpose late to run third to the above average Champagne Daisy. Up to the mile, Gate 1 with the right – she clearly appeals.

Bet: $100 win at $5 (Sportsbet)

Bet 4: Win – Moonee Valley Race 5, number seven: Nodoubtaboutit
The bookies have missed her. I thought she’d be near favourite, not $6-plus. She’s a really handy mare for Phillip Stokes who hasn’t raced since contesting a 955 metres here, when she had no luck at all when third to Our Luca. She tumbles in weight, and with the barrier I hope Crowther can follow every move that Lane makes on Matty and outsprint him.

Bet: $20 win at $6 (BetEasy)

Bet 5: Each-way – Naracoorte Race 6, number one: Naseeb
I think they’ll be doing a good job to hold this one out. Sue Murphy trains this gelding, who resumed at Penola, where he lumped the big weight. Despite that, he really attacked the line and just missed out on the win when a narrow second to Iconic. There’s no horse of that class here, and last prep did bolt up at this track and distance. I’m keen.

Bet: $50 win at $2.30 (Neds)
