Sydney racing takes place in Rosehill this Saturday, eight races will be decided on the course proper at Morphettville and Pakenham will host their Cup Day.

Here are my five plays across the three meetings.

Bet One – Win – Rosehill Race Three Number 2 Chewbacca
If he runs to his best and/or naturally improves from last start, he’ll be beating these before likely being spelled for the Country Championships. Danny Williams has this horse as his best chance for the Country Championships and it’s hard to argue against given what he has done to date.

He ran on Goulburn Cup Day last time where he looked an absolute moral and right up to that with a spank job of his rivals. Up to 1400m looks perfect, and he should be hard fit. Best of the day across Australia.

Bet Two – Each Way – Rosehill Race Seven Number 9 Slow Burn
I’m a bit surprised there are double figures on offer for this mare. It was a car crash if you were on her first up here two weeks. The run was inconclusive because she was held up for the entire straight and didn’t get a chance to let down.

That should eventuate this time around with clear air and a good speed.

Bet Three – Win – Pakenham Race Six Number 8 Fastnet Latina
He’s bordering on a life ban if he can’t win this. I was all over him last time in the Donald Cup and on the turn, it looked no betting, he was home. But Romancer, who hasn’t done much since arriving in Australia, decided to produce his best and prove too good.

He should be hard fit, finding positive form, this isn’t a strong race…surely he goes close. Anything over $4 is fine.

Bet Four – Each Way – Morphettville Race Three Number 5 Tenderly
I must be missing something as to why this girl is $7.5. I had her marked much shorter. She ran over 1300m on the Parks track last Saturday where she was disinterested for the most part but once she knuckled down, she was very good at the end, suggesting 1500m will be ideal, as will returning to the bigger track and back to her own age.

I’m really keen on her to run well.

Bet Five – Win – Morphettville Race Eight Number 8 Lady Of Crebilly
Just needs luck from the draw and she’ll be winning for mine. She is a quality mare for Phillip Stokes who is first up but looks ready to go off a very sharp trial win here recently where she beat Quiddick, who should have won last Saturday, so she didn’t beat camels, and she did it under a hold.

Just needs luck from the draw and she’ll be winning.
