The Melbourne Cup carnival has arrived, and the final chance to get a ballot exemption for the big race will present itself early on Derby Day, as the Lexus Stakes, with plenty of runners who need a result, to headline the early part of the day. This is The Roar’s guide to live streaming the race online, or watching it on TV.

The Lexus Stakes, which is the fourth race of a busy day at the Flemington Course, will get underway at 1:40pm (AEDT) as the fourth race on the programme for Saturday, November 2.

As mentioned in the intro, this is the final chance for runners to make their way into the Melbourne Cup field, with the winner guaranteed an automatic entry spot through ballot exemption.

The Lexus Stakes field has all but one runner still on the acceptance list for the Melbourne Cup, meaning the stakes are high at Flemington, and while the double hasn’t been completed between the two races since 2009, the mere presence in the Melbourne Cup is still something keenly sought after in the racing world.

How to watch the Lexus Stakes on TV

There will be plenty of ways to watch this race on TV around Australia, with three channels to take the important run.

Under a new deal with the Melbourne Cup carnival, TV rights have switched to Channel Ten for the four days of racing, including Derby Day. Their coverage on Saturday begins at 11am (AEDT) on the main channel, and they will be entirely focused on the events at Flemington.

Racing.com will also broadcast the race under their agreement to show Victorian and South Australian racing. This can be found at either Channel 78 on free to air TV, or Channel 529 on Foxtel.

Sky Racing, who show every match from Australia and New Zealand, will also broadcast the race as part of their raceday coverage through Foxtel.

To watch any of the coverage on Foxtel, you will need to ensure you have a valid Foxtel TV subscription, complete with the sports package.
