The field and barriers for Australia’s greatest race on turf will be locked in on Saturday evening when the barrier draw for the 2019 Melbourne Cup is done. This is The Roar’s guide to watching the event on TV, or live streaming it online in Australia.

The barrier draw is expected to get underway at 5:30pm (AEDT) ahead of Tuesday’s race, which will get underway at 3pm (AEDT).

The Cup, which is Australia’s second-richest, but most famous race, will see 24 runners go up against each other for the right to be crowned champion over a distance of 3200 metres in what is one of Australia’s longest race.

The process of working out which horses will run in the Cup has been underway for months, with 42 horses left in contention on the Kayo Sports, which carries all coverage on Racing.com.

You’ll also be able to use the online platform of Racing.com, as well as the Plus7 app, which carries the live stream from the channel.

Regardless of whether the event is broadcast by Sky Racing, you won’t be able to use Foxtel Now or the Foxtel App, as they don’t carry said channel in live stream form.

You’ll also be able to follow the barrier draw here on The Roar with a live blog kicking off at 5:15pm (AEDT) on Saturday evening.
